Abstract

The present invention teaches the use of a disc shaped mesh intrasaccular occlusion structure with at least one coil arm, with optional supplemental hydrogel, which is designed to implement an endovascular treatment to facilitate saccular aneurysm treatment while ameliorating or eliminating aneurysm recurrence.

Claims

1. A embolic device for ameliorating aneurysms, comprising a control element, a catheter element, a delivery microcatheter hypotube, a detachment element, a mesh disc, a distal opening and at least one coil arm, wherein said mesh disc further comprises a proximal face and a distal face, said proximal face being opposite of said distal face;

and said proximal face and said distal faces are substantially flat;

wherein said mesh disc further comprises peripheral lips, wherein said peripheral lips are configured to be oriented parallel to a neck of the aneurysm;

wherein said mesh disc and said at least one coil arm further comprises adhered hydrogel;

wherein said mesh disc comprises a metal core having a diameter configured to be smaller than said aneurysm, wherein said mesh disc is pinned in place by said at least one coil arm and said adhered hydrogel in a dome shape of said mesh disc is adapted to fill an upper region of said aneurysm.

2. The device of claim 1, wherein said mesh disc is flexible.

3. The device of claim 1, wherein said mesh disc is flattened.

4. The device of claim 1, wherein said mesh disc with said at least one coil arm comprises a matrix adapted to form shapes of suitable geometry for adapting to the contours of the aneurysm.

5. The device of claim 1, wherein said delivery microcatheter hypotube further comprises a channel capable of delivering said at least one coil therethrough.

6. The device of claim 1, wherein said mesh disc is configured to be impregnated with said adhered hydrogel in a sufficient amount to wedge said mesh disc into a target vessel vascular structure.

7. The device of claim 1, wherein said adhered hydrogel is radio-opaque.

8. The device of claim 1, wherein said catheter element further comprises at least one side hole.

9. The device of claim 8, further comprising at least two centering balloons deployed via said at least one side hole.

10. The device of claim 1, wherein said mesh disc with said at least one coil arm is configured to grip the walls of said aneurysm and is configured to stabilize said mesh disc in position at the neck of said aneurysm.

11. An embolic device for ameliorating an aneurysm, comprising a control element, a catheter element, a wire, a detachment element, a mesh disc, at least one coil arm, and a distal opening, wherein said mesh disc further comprises a proximal face and a distal face, said proximal face being opposite of said distal face;

and said proximal face and said distal faces are substantially flat;

wherein said mesh disc further comprises peripheral lips, wherein said peripheral lips are configured to be oriented parallel to a neck of the aneurysm;

wherein said mesh disc and said at least one coil arm further comprises adhered hydrogel;

wherein said mesh disc comprises a metal core having a diameter configured to be smaller than said aneurysm, wherein said mesh disc is pinned in place by said at least one coil arm and said adhered hydrogel in a dome shape of said mesh disc is adapted to fill an upper region of said aneurysm.

12. The device of claim 11, wherein said mesh disc is flexible.

13. The device of claim 11, wherein said mesh disc is flattened.

14. The device of claim 11, wherein said mesh disc with said at least one coil arm comprises a matrix adapted to form shapes of suitable geometry for adapting to the contours of the aneurysm.

15. The device of claim 11, wherein said mesh disc and said at least one coil arm is configured to be impregnated with said adhered hydrogel in a sufficient amount to wedge said mesh disc into a target vessel vascular structure.

16. The device of claim 11, wherein said catheter element further comprises at least one side hole.

17. The device of claim 16, further comprising at least two centering balloons deployed via said at least one side hole.

18. The device of claim 11, wherein the periphery of said mesh disc is upturned.

19. The device of claim 11, wherein said mesh disc is configured to be positioned at the neck of said aneurysm.

20. The device of claim 11, wherein said mesh disc is configured to not substantially fill said aneurysm.

21. The device of claim 11, further comprising at least one additional layer of mesh disc.

22. The device of claim 21, wherein said at least one additional layer of said mesh disc further includes said adhered hydrogel adapted to occlude only said one additional layer.

23. The device of claim 11, wherein said mesh disc with said at least one coil arm is configured to grip the walls of said aneurysm and is configured to stabilize said mesh disc in position at the neck of said aneurysm.
