1. A method, performed by a wireless transmit receive unit (WTRU), of allocating Uplink (UL) data channel resources for transmitting an UL data channel signal, the method comprising:
- receiving a first subset of a set of UL data channel resource allocation parameters via an allocation message associated with a randomly selected signature sequence transmitted by the WTRU;
receiving a second subset of the set of UL data channel resource allocation parameters via a system information block (SIB) including information indicating a mapping of the randomly selected signature sequence to a plurality of UL data channel resources for transmitting the UL data channel signal; and
transmitting the UL data channel signal using any of the plurality of UL data channel resources determined according to the mapping.
