1. An air exhaust system, for an electronic equipment enclosure, the air exhaust system comprising:
- a vertically-oriented exhaust duct comprised of a plurality of separate panels, including a front panel, a back panel and a pair of side panels, the panels being arranged to define a passageway, wherein the vertically-oriented exhaust duct is open at both its upper and lower ends in order to allow air to pass unencumbered through the passageway; and
a seal structure disposed along at least substantially the entirety of the upper end of the vertically-oriented exhaust duct to limit air from escaping from between the upper end of the vertically-oriented exhaust duct and an overhead structure disposed above the vertically-oriented exhaust duct, wherein the seal structure comprises;
a receiving end fittingly engaged with an upper edge of the vertically-oriented exhaust duct; and
a deflectable free end for abutment with and deflection by the overhead structure, wherein;
in an undeflected state, the deflectable free end is arranged to extend upwardly beyond the upper end of the exhaust duct and flare outwardly beyond a footprint defined by the vertically-oriented exhaust duct, andin a deflected state, a distal tip of the deflectable free end abuts and is deflected downwardly, beyond the footprint defined by the vertically-oriented exhaust duct, by a generally horizontal surface of the overhead structure.

Abstract
An electronic equipment enclosure includes a frame structure at least partially enclosed by a plurality of panels defining a compartment in which one or more electronic components are mounted and an exhaust air duct that is adapted to segregate hot air being exhausted from the compartment from cool air entering the compartment, thereby improving thermal management of the enclosure. The exhaust duct includes a lower duct section extending upward from the top panel of the compartment and an upper duct section telescoping upward from an upper end of the lower duct section. Each duct section includes four panels connected together by hinged corner fittings such that the section is collapsible. The upper duct section includes an outwardly flared portion.

an upper exhaust duct comprised of a plurality of separate panels, including a front panel, a back panel and a pair of side panels, the panels being arranged to define an upper passageway, wherein the upper exhaust duct is open at both its upper and lower ends in order to allow air to pass unencumbered through the upper passageway; a lower exhaust duct telescopically paired with the upper exhaust duct to facilitate adjustment of a combined height of the upper and lower exhaust ducts, the lower exhaust duct defining a lower passageway in fluid communication with the upper passageway of the upper exhaust duct; an upper seal structure disposed at the upper end of the upper exhaust duct to limit air from escaping from between the upper end of the upper exhaust duct and an overhead structure disposed above the upper exhaust duct, wherein the upper seal structure comprises a receiving end fittingly engaged with an upper edge of the upper exhaust duct and a deflectable free end, wherein the deflectable free end of the upper seal structure is arranged to extend upwardly beyond the upper end of the upper exhaust duct and flare outwardly beyond a footprint defined by the upper exhaust duct, and wherein the deflectable free end of the upper seal structure is deflectable downwardly by a generally horizontal surface of the overhead structure, thereby forming a seal against the generally horizontal surface; and a lower seal structure disposed at the lower end of the upper exhaust duct to limit air from escaping from between the lower end of the upper exhaust duct and the lower exhaust duct, wherein the lower seal structure comprises a receiving end fittingly engaged with a lower edge of the upper exhaust duct and a deflectable free end, wherein the deflectable free end of the lower seal structure is arranged to extend downwardly beneath the lower end of the upper exhaust duct and inwardly within the footprint defined by the upper exhaust duct, and wherein the deflectable free end of the lower seal structure is deflectable outwardly by a generally vertical surface of the lower exhaust duct, thereby forming a seal against the generally vertical surface. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19)
