1. A method for wireless communication, comprising:

  • identifying a candidate set of resources within a set of available resources for transmitting a device-to-device (D2D) transmission, wherein the D2D transmission comprises a sidelink transmission between two D2D user equipment (UE) devices, and wherein the set of available resources comprises primary sidelink shared channel (PSSCH) resources;

    selecting a first resource within the candidate set of resources for transmitting a first transmission of the D2D transmission;

    selecting a subset of the set of available resources from the candidate set of resources for transmitting a second transmission of the D2D transmission, wherein the subset of the set of available resources comprises one or more resources occurring within a predetermined time window around a first time associated with the first resource for transmitting the first transmission;

    determining the subset of the set of available resources is empty;

    skipping selecting a second resource within the subset of the set of available resources for transmitting the second transmission based at least in part on determining that the subset of the set of available resources is empty;

    transmitting the first transmission using the first resource; and

    skipping transmitting the second transmission using the second resource based at least in part on determining that the subset of the set of available resources is empty.
