1. A method of deploying a stent device into an aorta of a patient, comprising:

  • positioning a distal portion of the stent device at least beyond the left subclavian artery into the descending aorta by axially translating a distal end of a rod of a deployment device into the aorta,wherein the stent device is engaged with the deployment device in an initial configuration a bout the rod, wherein the axial translation occurs in a direction extending from the aortic arch into the descending aorta,wherein the stent device further includes a stent portion in fluid engagement with the distal portion,wherein the stent portion and the distal portion define an uncovered open cell surface,wherein the stent device further includes a proximal portion in fluid engagement with the stent portion,wherein a collar is defined at a terminal end of the proximal portion;

    releasing one or more radially constraining members constraining a diameter of the stent portion by pulling on a release wire, wherein the one or more radially constraining members comprise a first slip joint and a second slip joint connected with the release wire;

    modifying the length and modifying the diameter of the stent device into a deployed configuration by axially translating the rod within the aorta towards the aortic arch during the releasing the one or more radially constraining members during a deployment sequence,wherein the open cell surface of the stent portion is positioned to span and engage a portion of the aortic arch to which the brachiocephalic trunk, the left common carotid artery, and the left subclavian artery attach,wherein the open cell surface of the distal portion extends into and engages a portion of the descending aorta;

    removing the rod from the aorta of the patient after the length and the diameter of the stent device has been adjusted,attaching the collar with a portion of the aortic arch and with a graft member that has replaced the ascending aorta.
