Abstract

A front receiver for use as an interchangeable component with a modular platform for a gutter guard system is disclosed herein. One such front receiver is arranged for use with a gutter guard system that includes a main body, the front receiver includes a main section; an extension section extending at an angle from a front edge of the main section; a first leg; a second leg; and a drip edge. The main section includes the front edge, a rear edge, a top surface, and a bottom surface. The first leg extends generally perpendicularly away from the bottom surface of the main section. The second leg extends generally perpendicularly away from the first leg toward the rear edge of the main section. The drip edge extends perpendicularly from the second leg.

Claims

1. A front receiver for use with a gutter guard system that includes a main body, the front receiver comprising:

a main section that includes a front edge, a rear edge, a top surface, and a bottom surface;

an extension section extending at an angle from the front edge of the main section;

a first leg extending generally perpendicularly away from the bottom surface of the main section;

a second leg extending generally perpendicularly away from the first leg toward the rear edge of the main section; and

a drip edge extending perpendicularly from the second leg in a first direction and a second direction.

2. The front receiver of claim 1, wherein the first leg is positioned proximate to the rear edge of the main section.

3. The front receiver of claim 2, wherein the main section, the first leg, the second leg, and the drip edge form a channel to accommodate and secure the front receiver to a main body in a gutter guard system.

4. The front receiver of claim 1, wherein the first leg bisects the bottom surface of the main section into a distal bottom surface extending from the first leg to the front edge of the main section and a proximal bottom surface extending from the first leg to the rear edge of the main section.

5. The front receiver of claim 4, wherein the proximal bottom surface, the first leg, the second leg, and the drip edge form a channel to accommodate and secure the front receiver to a main body in a gutter guard system.

6. The front receiver of claim 1, wherein the extension section extends from the front edge of the main section at an angle of approximately forty-five degrees with reference to the top surface.

7. The front receiver of claim 1, wherein the extension section extends from the front edge of the main section at an angle of approximately sixteen degrees with reference to the top surface.

8. The front receiver of claim 1, wherein the main section includes a plurality of apertures.

9. The front receiver of claim 8, wherein the plurality of apertures are sized to accommodate fasteners.

10. The front receiver of claim 9, wherein the plurality of apertures are slots that when accommodating fasteners allow for variability in the positioning of the fastener relative to the slots.

11. The front receiver of claim 9, wherein the plurality of apertures are further sized such that when accommodating fasteners water cannot flow through the apertures.

12. The front receiver of claim 1, wherein the second leg includes a plurality of through-holes.

13. The front receiver of claim 1, wherein the front receiver is designed such that the extension section of the front receiver rests upon a front lip of a rain gutter when a gutter guard system is installed in a rain gutter.

14. The front receiver of claim 13, wherein when the gutter guard system is installed in the rain gutter, the extension section extends beyond the front lip of the rain gutter.

15. The front receiver of claim 14, wherein the portion of the extension section that extends beyond the font lip of the rain gutter functions as another drip edge.

16. The front receiver of claim 13, wherein when the gutter guard system is installed in the rain gutter, the extension section does not extend beyond the front lip of the rain gutter.

17. A front receiver for use with a gutter guard system that includes a main body, the front receiver comprising:

a main section that includes a front edge, a rear edge, a top surface, and a bottom surface;

a first leg extending generally perpendicularly away from the bottom surface of the main section;

a second leg extending generally perpendicularly away from the first leg toward the rear edge of the main section; and

a drip edge extending perpendicularly from the second leg in a first direction and a second direction.

18. The front receiver of claim 17, wherein the first leg is positioned proximate to the rear edge of the main section.

19. The front receiver of claim 18, wherein the bottom surface of the main section, the first leg, the second leg, and the drip edge form a channel to accommodate and secure a front receiver to a main body in a gutter guard system.

20. The front receiver of claim 17, wherein the first leg bisects the bottom surface of the main section into a distal bottom surface extending from the first leg to the front edge and a proximal bottom surface extending from the first leg to the rear edge.

21. The front receiver of claim 20, wherein the proximal bottom surface, the first leg, the second leg, and the drip edge form a channel to accommodate and secure the front receiver to a main body in a gutter guard system.

22. The front receiver of claim 17, wherein the main section includes a first section, a second section, and an intersection separating the first section and the second section, wherein the first section is positioned at approximately an angle of sixteen degrees with respect to the second section.

23. The front receiver of claim 17, wherein the main section includes a first section, a second section, and an intersection separating the first section and the second section, wherein the first section is positioned at approximately an angle of forty-five degrees with respect to the second section.

24. The front receiver of claim 17, wherein the first section includes a plurality of apertures.

25. The front receiver of claim 24, wherein the plurality of apertures are sized to accommodate fasteners.

26. The front receiver of claim 25, wherein the plurality of apertures are slots that when accommodating fasteners allow for variability in the positioning of the fastener relative to the slots.

27. The front receiver of claim 25, wherein the plurality of apertures are further sized such that when accommodating fasteners water cannot flow through the apertures.

28. The front receiver of claim 17, wherein the front receiver is designed such that the main section of the front receiver rests upon a front lip of a rain gutter when a gutter guard system is installed in a rain gutter.
