Abstract

Aspects of the subject disclosure may include, for example, analyzing media content to recognize an object therein, wherein the media content is provided as a video stream displayed to a user of a communication device, the media content comprising a plurality of digital frames transported to the communication device over a private network; associating product information of a product with the object; receiving a user input selecting the object; determining providers of goods or services of the product, wherein the providers of goods or services are selected during the determining based on a proximity of the providers to the user of the communication device; and providing the product information to the communication device. Other embodiments are disclosed.

Claims

1. A method, comprising:

analyzing, by a processing system comprising a processor, closed captioning provided with media content, the media content being provided as a video stream displayed to a user of a media device, the media content comprising a plurality of digital frames transported to the media device over a private network;

recognizing, by the processing system, product information, the recognizing being based on the analyzing of the closed captioning;

determining, by the processing system, product website information for providers of goods or services associated with the product information, the providers of the goods or services being selected during the determining based on a proximity to the user of the media device;

receiving, by the processing system from the media device, a user input selecting a product associated with the product information, the selecting resulting in a selected product; and

providing, by the processing system, a connection to a website associated with the selected product to the media device through the private network, the product website information comprising a uniform resource locator to the website, and the website enabling the user to securely procure the selected product by having the selected product being paid for without providing payment information by the user to the providers of the goods or services.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the product website information is determined upon receiving the user input selecting the product.

3. The method of claim 2, wherein the providers of the goods or services can deliver the goods or services selected to a premises of the user within 24 hours.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising creating and storing, by the processing system, an object, wherein the object includes the product information.

5. The method of claim 4, wherein the object includes the product website information.

6. The method of claim 5, wherein the object includes information identifying a spot on a screen of the media device that may be responsive to selecting the object.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising embedding, by the processing system, the object in the media content.

8. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing, by the processing system, website links for a list of providers of the selected product.

9. The method of claim 8, wherein the list of providers is arranged according to a user defined criteria.

10. The method of claim 1, wherein an operator of the processing system remits payment on behalf of the user for the selected product.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the operator of the processing system adds a cost of the payment remitted to a bill of the user.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein the operator of the processing system acts as a guarantor for the user.

13. A device, comprising:

a processing system including a processor; and

a memory that stores executable instructions that, when executed by the processing system, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising;

analyzing closed captioning provided with media content to recognize an object in the media content, wherein the media content is provided as a video stream displayed to a user of a communication device, the media content comprising a plurality of digital frames transported to the communication device;

associating product information of a product with the object;

receiving a user input selecting the object;

determining providers of goods or services who can provide the product, wherein the providers of the goods or services are selected during the determining based on a proximity of the providers of the goods or services to the user of the communication device; and

providing the product information to the communication device, the product information comprising a uniform resource locator to a website associated with the product, and the website enabling the user to procure the product by having the product being paid for without providing payment information by the user to the providers of the goods or services.

14. The device of claim 13, wherein the device comprises a plurality of processors, wherein the plurality of processors comprises the processor and at least another processor, and wherein the plurality of processors operate in a distributed processing environment.

15. The device of claim 13, wherein a connection between the website and the communication device is made through a private network.

16. The device of claim 13, wherein the determining the providers of the goods or services further comprises determining whether the providers of the goods or services can supply the goods or services within 24 hours.

17. The device of claim 13, wherein the operations further comprise storing the object in a database.

18. The device of claim 17, wherein the object comprises information identifying a relative location on a screen of the communication device to enable selection thereof.

19. A non-transitory machine-readable medium, comprising executable instructions that, when executed by a processing system including a processor, facilitate performance of operations, the operations comprising:

analyzing closed captioning provided with media content to recognize an object in the media content, the media content being provided as a video stream displayed to a user of a communication device, the media content comprising a plurality of digital frames sent to the communication device over a private network;

identifying a product from the object;

receiving a user input selecting the object on a screen of the communication device;

determining a location of the communication device;

providing a list of providers of goods or services of the product to the communication device based on an ability of the providers of the goods or services to deliver the goods or services to the location of the communication device in a timely fashion;

receiving a selection of a provider of the goods or services from the communication device, resulting in a selected provider; and

providing a link to a website to the communication device, the link enabling the user of the communication device to complete a transaction to procure the goods or services by having the goods or services being paid for without providing payment information by the user to the selected provider.

20. The non-transitory machine-readable medium of claim 19, wherein the providers of the goods or services can effect delivery of the goods or services within 24 hours, wherein the processing system comprises a plurality of processors, wherein the plurality of processors comprises the processor and at least another processor, and wherein the plurality of processors operate in a distributed processing environment.
