1. A method implemented by a wireless transit/receive unit (WTRU), the method comprising:
- the WTRU receiving a radio resource control (RRC) message comprising a discontinuous reception (DRX) configuration, the DRX configuration comprising an indication of a DRX cycle periodicity and an indication of a length of a minimum active period of a DRX cycle;
the WTRU monitoring a control channel during the minimum active period of a first DRX cycle;
the WTRU receiving a data indication signal via the control channel during the minimum active period, the data indication signal indicating that downlink data is to be transmitted to the WTRU;
the WTRU staying awake beyond the minimum active period of the first DRX cycle based on receiving the data indication signal; and
the WTRU determining to resume DRX based on inactivity.
