1. A method comprising:

  • receiving, at a server computer, a plurality of new content messages from a plurality of content sources, each of the plurality of new content messages comprising media content;

    analyzing, by the server computer, the media content of each new content message received from the plurality of content sources to determine that a first subset of new content messages of the plurality of new content messages is associated with a first predetermined media collection of a plurality of predetermined media collections;

    analyzing, by the server computer, the first subset of new content messages associated with the first predetermined media collection to generate a second subset of the first subset of new content messages by filtering out content messages of the first subset of new content messages that comprise low quality media content, wherein factors to determine low quality media content include at least one of a group comprising underexposure, overexposure, audio quality, and compression quality;

    adding, by the server computer, the second subset of new content messages to previously received content messages to be considered for inclusion in the first predetermined media collection;

    determining, by the server computer, that a predetermined amount of time has passed since any content messages associated with the first predetermined media collection have been pushed live to be viewed by one or more users;

    based on determining that the predetermined amount of time has passed since any content messages associated with the first predetermined media collection have been pushed live to be viewed by one or more users, updating, by the server computer, an identifier of the first predetermined media collection from a first indicator to a second indicator indicating an action to be taken on the first predetermined media collection to curate the media collection before presentation to one or more users;

    providing, by the server computer, a media collection list assigned to a first curator to be displayed on a curator device, the media collection list comprising a plurality of media collections that includes the first predetermined media collection and the media collection list including, for each media collection in the media collection list, a corresponding curator list indicating one or more curators assigned to each media collection;

    causing a timeline to be displayed on the curator device showing a curation progress of each of a plurality of curators that are curating the content messages in the first media collection before presentation to one or more users, the curation progress indicating an assigned portion of content messages that are assigned to each curator, how many content messages of the assigned portion have been viewed by each curator, and how many content messages of the assigned portion of content messages have not been viewed by each curator, and an indication, corresponding to each curator, of published content messages in the first media collection that have been pushed live to be viewed by one or more users;

    receiving a selection of a first curator in a list of curators for the first media collection; and

    causing display of a list of media collections assigned to the first curator and metrics corresponding to the first curator, the metric comprises at least one of an average time to clear a predefined number of content messages, an average number of flagged content messages, a ratio of flagged to approved content messages, an average time an approved content messages is in a queue before it is flagged, or an average time an approved content message is in an queue before it is activated.
