1. An apparatus for managing a user equipment device (UE), the apparatus comprising a processor configured to execute program instruction to cause the UE to:
- transmit, to a base station, a connection request message including an indication of a supported compression algorithm;
receive, from the base station, a connection setup message, wherein the connection setup message is compressed according to the supported compression algorithm;
transmit, to the base station, a connection setup complete message, wherein the connection setup complete message is compressed according to the supported compression algorithm; and
exchange at least one compressed message with the base station, wherein the at least one compressed message is compressed according to the supported compression algorithm.
