1. A surgical instrument, comprising:

  • a shaft; and

    an end effector extending from the shaft, wherein the end effector comprises;

    a first jaw;

    a second jaw, wherein the second jaw is rotatable relative to the first jaw between an open and closed position; and

    a staple cartridge, comprising;

    a cartridge body;

    a longitudinal slot;

    a first row of staples including a first staple and a second staple on a first side of the longitudinal slot;

    a second row of staples including a third staple on the first side of the longitudinal slot, wherein each of the first staple, the second staple, and the third staple comprises;

    a first deformable member;

    a second deformable member; and

    a base extending between the first deformable member and the second deformable member;

    a segmented, interconnected buttress, comprising;

    a first crown comprising first apertures configured to receive the first deformable member and the second deformable member of the first staple;

    a second crown comprising second apertures configured to receive the first deformable member and the second deformable member of the second staple;

    a third crown comprising third apertures configured to receive the first deformable member and the second deformable member of the third staple; and

    a bridge connecting the first crown and the third crown.
