Abstract

A system, method and article of manufacture are provided for presenting product information. A navigation of a user is monitored. A detection is made that the user is viewing content about a product. A database having product information associated with the product is searched. Product information associated with the product is selected based on the search. The selected product information is presented for output in a second window of a display being viewed by the user.

Claims

1. A method for presenting product information, comprising the steps of:

(a) monitoring a navigation of a user;

(b) detecting that the user is viewing content about a product;

(c) searching a database having product information associated with the product;

(d) selecting product information associated with the product based on the search; and

(e) presenting the selected product information for output in a second window of a display being viewed by the user.

2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the selected product information is an advertisement relating to the product.

3. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the associations have been created by the user.

4. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the selected product information is about an alternative product.

5. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the selected product information is a promotional offer relating to the product.

6. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the selected product information includes information about a vendor of the product.

7. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein a fee is charged for presentment of the selected product information.

8. A computer program product for presenting product information, comprising:

(a) computer code for monitoring a navigation of a user;

(b) computer code for detecting that the user is viewing content about a product;

(c) computer code for searching a database having product information associated with the product;

(d) computer code for selecting product information associated with the product based on the search; and

(e) computer code for presenting the selected product information for output in a second window of a display being viewed by the user.

9. A computer program product as recited in claim 8, wherein the selected product information is an advertisement relating to the product.

10. A computer program product as recited in claim 8, wherein the associations have been created by the user.

11. A computer program product as recited in claim 8, wherein the selected product information is about an alternative product.

12. A computer program product as recited in claim 8, wherein the selected product information is a promotional offer relating to the product.

13. A computer program product as recited in claim 8, wherein the selected product information includes information about a vendor of the product.

14. A computer program product as recited in claim 8, wherein a fee is charged for presentment of the selected product information.

16. A system as recited in claim 15, wherein the selected product information is an advertisement relating to the product.

17. A system as recited in claim 15, wherein the associations have been created by the user.

18. A system as recited in claim 15, wherein the selected product information is about an alternative product.

19. A system as recited in claim 15, wherein the selected product information is a promotional offer relating to the product.

20. A system as recited in claim 15, wherein the s elected product information includes information about a vendor of the product.

15. A system for presenting product information, comprising:

(a) logic for monitoring a navigation of a user;

(b) logic for detecting that the user is viewing content about a product;

(c) logic for searching a database having product information associated with the product;

(d) logic for selecting product information associated with the product based on the search; and

(e) logic for presenting the selected product information for output in a second window of a display being viewed by the user.
