Abstract
In accordance with the objects outlined above, the present invention provides microfluidic devices for the detection of a target analyte in a sample. The devices comprise a solid support that has any number of modules, including a a sample inlet port and at least one sample handling well comprising a well inlet port and a well outlet port. The device generally further comprises a first microchannel to allow fluid contact between the sample inlet port and the sample handling well. The device also comprises a detection module comprising a substrate with a surface comprising discrete sites, and a population of microspheres comprising at least a first and a second subpopulation, wherein each subpopulation comprises a bioactive agent. The microspheres are distributed on said surface. The detection module also comprises a detection inlet port to receive the sample. The device also comprises a second microchannel to allow fluid contact between the sample handling well and the detection inlet port.
