Abstract

When image data is displayed on the display portion of a conventional mobile telephone, characters cannot be displayed thereon, and thus the image data and the characters cannot be simultaneously displayed. In a portable electronic device according to the present invention, a cover member having a first display device (101) for displaying an image (digital still image or the like) and a second display device (102) having a touch input operational portion (for displaying characters, symbols, or the like) are attached to each other so as to allow opening and closing.

Claims

1. A portable electronic device comprising:

a first display device for displaying an image; and

a second display device comprising a touch input operational portion,

wherein the first display device and the second display device are attached to each other in a longitudinal direction or in a lateral direction.

4. A portable electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the first display device comprises a touch input operational portion.

6. A portable electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the second display device displays one of a character and a symbol.

8. A portable electronic device according to claim 1, wherein one of the first display device and the second display device comprises an image pickup device.

10. A portable electronic device according to claim 1, wherein one of the first display device and the second display device comprises a system for identifying a user.

12. A portable electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the first display device is one of a liquid crystal display device and an EL display device.

14. A portable electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the second display device is one of a liquid crystal display device and an EL display device.

21. A portable electronic device according to claim 1, wherein the portable electronic device comprises a communication function.

2. A portable electronic device comprising:

a cover member comprising a first display device for displaying an image; and

a second display device comprising a touch input operational portion,

wherein the cover member and the second display device are attached to each other so as to allow opening and closing.

3. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein a third display device is provided between the cover member and the second display device.

5. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein the first display device comprises a touch input operational portion.

7. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein the second display device displays one of a character and a symbol.

9. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein one of the first display device and the second display device comprises an image pickup device.

11. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein one of the first display device and the second display device comprises a system for identifying a user.

13. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein the first display device is one of a liquid crystal display device and an EL display device.

15. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein the second display device is one of a liquid crystal display device and an EL display device.

16. A portable electronic device according to claim 3, wherein the third display device comprises an image pickup device.

17. A portable electronic device according to claim 3, wherein the third display device comprises a system for identifying a user.

18. A portable electronic device according to claim 3, wherein the third display device is one of a liquid crystal display device and an EL display device.

20. A portable electronic device according to claim 19, wherein the reflection display device comprises a touch input operational portion.

22. A portable electronic device according to claim 2, wherein the portable electronic device comprises a communication function.

23. A portable electronic device according to claim 19, wherein the portable electronic device comprises a communication function.

25. A portable electronic device according to claim 24, wherein the liquid crystal display device comprises a touch input operational portion.

26. A portable electronic device according to claim 24, wherein the EL display device displays an image.

27. A portable electronic device according to claim 24, wherein the EL display device comprises an image pickup device.

19. A portable electronic device comprising:

a cover member comprising an EL display device for displaying an image; and

a reflection display device,

wherein the cover member and the reflection liquid crystal display device are attached to each other so as to allow opening and closing, and

wherein the reflection display device is made to display by irradiating light emitted from the EL display device.

24. A portable electronic device comprising:

a liquid crystal display device; and

an EL display device,

wherein the liquid crystal display device and the EL display device are attached to each other so as to allow opening and closing.

28. A portable electronic device comprising:

a first display device;

a second display device; and

a third display device provided between the first display device and the second display device,

wherein the first display device, the second display device, and the third display device are attached to each other so as to allow opening and closing.
