1. A drug delivery system comprising:

  • a cardiac device comprising a sensing channel for sensing electrical activity occurring in a patient'"'"'s heart and generating sensing signals in accordance therewith, circuitry for extracting information from the sensing signals, circuitry for detecting a particular medical condition from the extracted information and generating a command signal if the medical condition is present, a telemetry interface for receiving and transmitting radio frequency signals, and circuitry for modulating the radio frequency signals with information relating to the command signal; and

    , an external drug delivery device for affixation to a patient having incorporated therein a telemetry interface for receiving and transmitting radio frequency signals, circuitry for demodulating radio signals to derive a command signal therefrom, and circuitry for controlling the drug delivery device in order to deliver a drug in accordance with the command signal.
