1. A method for providing connectivity between hosts in a data communication network, at least one of said hosts, herein called semipermanent user, being able to be connected to a Network Access Server over an access network, said method comprising the steps of:

  • storing connection parameters of said semi-permanent user in a database accessible by said Network Access Server, said connection parameters identifying unambiguously said semi-permanent user in said access network;

    scanning the occurrence of events directed to said semi-permanent user at an event management system when said semi-permanent user is not connected to said network access server;

    upon occurrence of one of said events, triggering said network access server by said event management system to establish a connection to said semi-permanent user by using said connection parameters;
