Abstract
A method and system for displaying and viewing electronic information using a computerized interface is disclosed. The invention creates innovative underlying associations between graphic images of physical pages and extracted electronic information from the graphic images to display electronic information in a manner that mimics reading physical pages. The invention utilizes annotations to bound extracted electronic information and stores annotations in a structure tree of an information manager. The invention also provides a method for advancing through these underlying associations by using an enhanced interactive window. The user selects electronic information from an initial display and advances by “clicking” in the enhanced interactive window. Further, the user can add notes, create summary documents, and utilize a dictionary. The invention also provides a system that incorporates this method and these underlying associations. Such a system may reside on a desktop computer, laptop, or personal digital assistant and may be an application sitting on top of an underlying operating system or be incorporated in the operating system itself.
