Abstract

An emergency medical treatment system that uses medical information recorded in a user file by a central computer connected to a wide area network. The system is designed to be used with a recording and monitoring health and physical fitness system that automatically sends the parameter information from a sensor worn by a subscriber to a central computer. The wireless communication unit is able to connect to a wireless communication network which, in turn, connects to a wide area network. A central computer is connected to a wide area network that is able to continuously download the physiological parameter information from the wireless communication unit via the wireless communication network. The central computer uses a health information recording software program to create a continuously updated subscriber'"'"'s medical database containing current and historical medical information. The subscriber and authorized medical personnel are able to log onto the central computer to review the medical information on the subscriber'"'"'s medical database file.

Claims

1. An emergency medical treatment system, comprising:

a. a central computer;

b. a health information recording software program loaded into said central computer, said health information recording software program used to collect and process physiological parameter information delivered thereto;

c. a wide area network connected to said central computer;

d. a wireless communication network connected to said wide area network;

a wireless communication means to communicate with said wireless communication network; and

,

e. at least one physiological parameter monitoring means worn by an individual and used to measure a desired physiological parameter, said monitoring means coupled to said wireless communication means to transmit physiological information to said central computer connected to said wide area network.

2. The emergency medical treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein said physiological parameter monitoring means is a heart rate sensor.

3. The emergency medical treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein said physiological parameter monitoring means is a blood pressure sensor.

4. The emergency medical treatment system as recited in claim 1, wherein said physiological parameter monitoring means is a thermometer used to determine the body temperature of the individual.

5. The emergency medical treatment system as recited in claim 1, further including a physical location means capable of detecting the location of the subscriber.

6. The emergency medical treatment system as recited in claim 5, wherein said physical location detection means is a GPS receiver.

7. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 1, further including a client-side software program loaded into said wireless communication means to enable said wireless communication means to communicate with said central computer.

8. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 1, further including an authorized user list file connected to said central computer.

9. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 1, further including a short range wireless communication link between said sensor and said wireless communication unit.

10. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 1, further including means to visually indicate whether an individual is a subscriber to said system.

11. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 10, wherein said means is located on said wireless communication device used by said subscriber.

The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 1, further including a short range receiver/transmitter connected to said wireless communication device used by a subscriber and a second wireless communication device with a second short range receiver/transmitter used to communicate with said first short range receiver/transmitter.

14. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 13, further including a short range wireless communication link between said sensor and said wireless communication unit.

15. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 13, further including means to visually indicate whether an individual is a subscriber to said system.

16. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 15, wherein said means is located on said wireless communication device used by said subscriber.

17. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 13, further including a short range receiver/transmitter connected to said wireless communication device used by a subscriber and a second wireless communication device with a second short range receiver/transmitter used to communicate with said first short range receiver/transmitter.

19. The emergency medical treatment system, as recited in claim 18, further including a wide area network and a central computer connected to said wide area network used to receive health parameter information from said first wireless communication device.

13. An emergency medical treatment system, comprising:

a. a central computer;

b. a health information recording software program loaded into said central computer, said health information recording software program used to collect and process physiological parameter information delivered thereto;

c. wide area network connected to said central computer;

d. a wireless communication network connected to said wide area network;

a wireless communication means to communicate with said wireless communication network;

e. at least one physiological parameter monitoring means worn by an individual and used to measure a desired physiological parameter, said monitoring means coupled to said wireless communication means to transmit physiological information to said central computer connected to said wide area network;

f. a client-side software program loaded into said wireless communication means to enable said wireless communication means to communicate with said central computer; and

,

g. an authorized user list file connected to said central computer.

18. An emergency medical treatment system, comprising:

a. first wireless communication unit;

b. a health information recording software program loaded into said first wireless communication unit, said health information recording software program used to collect and process physiological parameter information delivered thereto;

c. a medical database file containing health parameter information for the user of said first communication unit;

d. a wireless communication network connected to said wide area network;

a wireless communication means to communicate with said wireless communication network;

e. a wireless short-range communication means connected to said first wireless communication unit;

f. a second wireless communication unit;

g. a short range wireless communication means connected with said second wireless communication unit able to communicate with said short-range wireless communication means on said first wireless communication unit; and

,

h. client-side software program loaded into said second wireless communication means to enable said second wireless communication means to communicate with said first wireless communication unit.
