Abstract

The invention includes structures and schema for organizing and inter-relating objects, data, or files, including relational, network, hierarchical, and entity-relationship models, among others, that are dynamic, that is changing with time. This includes manipulating structures by conversion, compression, compaction, and compilation, for various purposes. Also included is generating structures for storing, organizing, and managing dynamic objects for retrieval and presentation.

Claims

1. A method for sharing a rich media presentation which may include both streaming audio and streaming video among a group of collaborative participants, comprising the steps of:

storing a rich media presentation;

providing a means for each participant to retrieve and view the rich media presentation;

linking the rich media presentation with one or more dynamic objects;

providing an editing tool for each participant to modify the dynamic objects; and

providing a search tool for each participant to search the dynamic objects.

2. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the dynamic objects include textual annotations relative to the rich media presentation.

3. A method as recited in claim 1 further comprising the step of providing a means for each participant to poll the group of participants

4. A method as recited in claim 1, wherein the editing tool includes a security feature for at least a subset of dynamic objects that are secured such that a participant must enter a permission code before being able to modify a secured object.

5. A method as recited in claim 2, wherein the search means allows for full text searching of the dynamic objects.

6. A system for sharing a rich media presentation which may include both streaming audio and streaming video among a group of collaborative participants, comprising:

means storing a rich media presentation for later retrieval;

retrieval means for each participant to retrieve and view the rich media presentation;

linking means for associating the rich media presentation with one or more dynamic objects;

editing means for each participant to modify the dynamic objects; and

search means for each participant to search the dynamic objects.

7. A system as recited in claim 6, wherein the dynamic objects include textual annotations relative to the rich media presentation.

8. A system as recited in claim 6 further comprising polling means each participant to poll the group of participants
