Abstract

In a method for processing objects of a standardized communication protocol for image and data exchange between devices via a communication network by means of processing devices, the objects are converted with a conversion routine into a pure text file (plain text), can be processed in a simple command language and are subsequently converted back into the objects.

Claims

1. A method for processing objects of a standardized communication protocol for image and data exchange between a plurality of devices connected via communication network, said devices including processing devices wherein said objects are processed, comprising the steps of:

converting DICOM objects, each having a binary data tag, into a pure text file in a conversion routine and also, in said conversion routine, generating, for each tag, a binary file associated with the pure text file for the DICOM object associated with the tag;

processing said pure text file in a simple command language; and

reconverting said pure text file into a DICOM object using the binary file for the tag associated with the pure text file.

2. A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising selecting said tag from the group consisting of OB, OW, OL, FL and FD tags.

3. A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising selecting a value from a string for processing said pure text file with a command s.

4. A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising setting a value from a binary file for processing said pure text file with a command f.

5. A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising opening a sequence of tags for processing said pure text file with a command o.

6. A method as claimed in claim 5 comprising closing said sequence of tags with a command c.

7. A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising ending a command sequence for processing said pure text file with a command q.

8. A method as claimed in claim 1 comprising employing a CDF conversion routine as said conversion routine for converting said DICOM images into a .cdf file as said pure text file, and wherein the step of processing said pure text file comprises processing said pure text file in a .cdf command language.
