Abstract

An Enterprise Service Delivery Technical Architecture includes a Technical Model, and a Technical Delivery Framework, and is designed to facilitate the development of complete enterprise service management solutions. The use of the Enterprise Service Delivery Technical Architecture results in solution designs created to be independent of the technology platform being managed with a view that meets the overall business requirements that span the technology platforms within a business environment. An information technology infrastructure already in place for a customer is analyzed and broken down to its very lowest level building blocks. Then the building blocks within the model of the technical architecture are mapped with the building blocks of the customer'"'"'s information technology infrastructure to determine which of the building blocks of the model are to be used for the customer'"'"'s information technology operation. A specific technical delivery framework is developed for each customer.

Claims

1. A technical framework for use in delivering a specific set of information technology services for a customer, comprising:

a list of design objects created as a function of a solution scope for the information technology services for the customer; and

designated relationships between the design objects as a function of specific solution requirements for the information technology services for the customer.

2. The technical framework as recited in claim 1, wherein the design objects are created from architectural building blocks of an enterprise service delivery technical model.

3. The technical framework as recited in claim 2, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are created from relationships between the architectural building blocks of the enterprise service delivery technical model.

4. The technical framework as recited in claim 3, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are organized into logical levels.

5. The technical framework as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

a detailed technical design developed for the information technology services for the customer based on tool selection criteria that are dependent upon the list of design objects and the designated relationships between the design objects.

12. The technical framework as recited in claim 1, wherein the design objects are created from architectural building blocks of an enterprise service delivery technical model.

13. The technical framework as recited in claim 2, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are created from relationships between the architectural building blocks of the enterprise service delivery technical model.

14. The technical framework as recited in claim 3, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are organized into logical levels.

15. The technical framework as recited in claim 1, further comprising:

a detailed technical design developed for the information technology services for the customer based on tool selection criteria that are dependent upon the list of design objects and the designated relationships between the design objects.

6. A method for creating a technical framework for use in delivering a specific set of information technology services for a customer, comprising the steps of:

creating a list of design objects as a function of a solution scope for the information technology services for the customer; and

designating relationships between the design objects as a function of specific solution requirements for the information technology services for the customer.

7. The method as recited in claim 6, wherein the design objects are created from architectural building blocks of an enterprise service delivery technical model.

8. The method as recited in claim 7, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are created from relationships between the architectural building blocks of the enterprise service delivery technical model.

9. The method as recited in claim 8, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are organized into logical levels.

10. The method as recited in claim 6, further comprising the step of:

developing a detailed technical design for the information technology services for the customer based on tool selection criteria that are dependent upon the list of design objects and the designated relationships between the design objects.

11. A technical framework for use in delivering a specific set of information technology services for a customer, comprising:

a list of design objects created as a function of a solution scope for the information technology services for the customer; and

designated relationships between the design objects as a function of specific solution requirements for the information technology services for the customer.

17. The computer program product as recited in claim 16, wherein the design objects are created from architectural building blocks of an enterprise service delivery technical model.

18. The computer program product as recited in claim 17, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are created from relationships between the architectural building blocks of the enterprise service delivery technical model.

19. The computer program product as recited in claim 18, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are organized into logical levels.

20. The computer program product as recited in claim 16, further comprising the program step of:

developing a detailed technical design for the information technology services for the customer based on tool selection criteria that are dependent upon the list of design objects and the designated relationships between the design objects.

16. A computer program product adaptable for storage on a computer readable medium and operable for creating a technical framework for use in delivering a specific set of information technology services for a customer, comprising the program steps of:

creating a list of design objects as a function of a solution scope for the information technology services for the customer; and

designating relationships between the design objects as a function of specific solution requirements for the information technology services for the customer.

21. A data processing system operable for creating a technical framework for use in delivering a specific set of information technology services for a customer, comprising:

a processor;

an input device;

an output device;

a memory unit; and

a bus system for coupling the processor to the input device, output device, and memory unit, the processor further comprising;

circuitry for creating a list of design objects as a function of a solution scope for the information technology services for the customer, wherein the design objects are created from architectural building blocks of an enterprise service delivery technical model;

circuitry for designating relationships between the design objects as a function of specific solution requirements for the information technology services for the customer, wherein the designated relationships between the design objects are created from relationships between the architectural building blocks of the enterprise service delivery technical model; and

circuitry for developing a detailed technical design for the information technology services for the customer based on tool selection criteria that are dependent upon the list of design objects and the designated relationships between the design objects.
