a mode-selecting unit for selecting an autonomous mode in which the device behaves autonomously or a monitoring mode in which the device monitors the surrounding environment;

selecting an autonomous mode in which the device behaves autonomously or a monitoring mode in which the device monitors the surrounding environment;
determining a behavior in the selected mode by a behavior-determining unit provided in the device based on the recognized surrounding environment and the generated emotions; and
