1. A computerized terminal device for conducting audible and visual communications over the Internet that originated as a call dialed on the PSTN, comprising:

  • (a) control logic for initiating or receiving an integrated Internet and telephony call, wherein a call dialed on the PSTN consummates on the Internet;

    (b) Internet connectivity associated with an Internet Protocol (IP) address, or a surrogate, proxy, agent, or other substitute for said IP address, said IP address either permanently or dynamically assigned;

    (c) means for PSTN connectivity, said connectivity having an associated telephone number, and said connectivity providing means to carry digital call control messages;

    (d) digital messaging means for sending digital call control messages to the PSTN and receiving digital call control messages therefrom, said messages to incorporate telephone numbers and IP addresses.
