Abstract

An electronic commerce marketing system wherein in-person sales representatives personally visit potential customers, to improve the efficacy of the on-line marketing effort.

Claims

1. In a system of providing an electronic commerce internet web site able to access and display:

(a) from a catalog data structure, product data on a plurality of products for sale; and

(b) from a sales presentation data structure, sales presentation data defining a sales presentation;

the improvement comprising;

providing to a customer an in-person sales call comprising;

visiting said customer in-person;

presenting to said customer product data stored on a portable computer,

presenting to said customer a sales presentation stored on a portable computer,

inputting into said portable computer purchase data defining an order to purchase at least one of said plurality of products for sale.

2. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

receiving from said customer via said internet web site, customer data

identifying the identity and location of said customer, and

providing said customer data to a Contract Field Merchant responsible for visiting said customer.

3. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

inputting into said portable computer customer data identifying the identity and location of said customer.

4. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

paying sales commission based on said purchase data, as part of a networked marketing system.

5. The system of claim 1, further comprising:

shipping to said customer said purchased product on a plurality of occasions.

6. In a method of providing an electronic commerce internet web site able to access and display:

(a) from a catalog data structure, product data on a plurality of products for sale; and

(b) from a sales presentation data structure, sales presentation data defining a sales presentation;

the improvement comprising;

providing to a customer an in-person sales call comprising;

visiting said customer in-person;

presenting to said customer product data stored on a portable computer,

presenting to said customer a sales presentation stored on a portable computer,

inputting into said portable computer purchase data defining an order to purchase at least one of said plurality of products for sale.

7. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

receiving from said customer via said internet web site, customer data identifying the identity and location of said customer, and

providing said customer data to a Contract Field Merchant responsible for visiting said customer.

8. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

inputting into said portable computer customer data identifying the identity and location of said customer.

9. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

paying sales commission based on said purchase data, as part of a networked marketing system.

10. The method of claim 6, further comprising:

shipping to said customer said purchased product on a plurality of occasions.
