Abstract

In an electricity system real time price information is fed from an price feeder directly to the equipment or the meter central of an end consumer and the consumer is charged a price corresponding to the real-time price as set on the exchange. The end consumer is thereby enabled to control his/her power consumption more efficiently. Thus, the end consumer can take advantage of low prices as well as reduce consumption when the price exceeds some limit.

Claims

1. An electricity distribution system comprising a number of producers and a number of consumers, each consumer receiving electrical power from a common electrical network interconnecting all producers with each of the consumers, the system further comprising

a first trading system for trading electricity contracts corresponding to electricity to be distributed on said electricity distribution system,

the first trading system being connected to a price information dissemination unit distributing real time price information corresponding to the prices for the contracts traded in the trading system,

means interconnecting each consumer with said price dissemination unit, enabling each consumer to receive real time prices from the trading system, and

means for performing settlement in response to the real time prices received from the trading system.

2. A system according to claims 1, wherein the first trading system is the balancing market of the electricity system.

3. A system according to any of claims 1 or 2, wherein the price information dissemination unit is connected to a second trading system.

4. A system according to claims 3, wherein the second trading system is an exchange trading spot contracts.

5. A price dissemination unit for disseminating prices to a number of consumers of electricity connected to a common electricity network, the unit comprising:

means connected to a first trading system used for trading electricity contracts corresponding to electricity to be distributed on electricity network for receiving prices at which contracts are traded at the trading system,

means for compiling the received price information into a message, and

means for transmitting the message to the consumers.

6. A price dissemination unit according to claim 5, wherein the first trading system is the balancing market,

7. A price dissemination unit according to any of claim 5 or 6, further comprising

means connected to a second trading system.

8. A price dissemination unit according to claim 7, wherein the second trading system is an exchange trading spot contracts.

9. A price dissemination unit according to any of claims 5-8, wherein the message comprise the following information.

Information identifying the unit

contract type

time during which the contract is valid

price

10. A method of settlement in an electricity distribution system comprising a number of producers and a number of consumers, each consumer receiving electrical power from a common electrical network interconnecting all producers with each of the consumers, the method comprising the steps of:

receiving from a first trading system for trading electricity contracts corresponding to electricity to be distributed on said electricity distribution system prices for the electricity contracts traded,

compiling the prices into a message,

transmitting the message to all consumers, thereby enabling each consumer to receive real time prices from the trading system, and

performing settlement in response to the real time prices received from the trading system.
