1. A method for locating a region of traumatic, hypoxic or other disease state in a patient, the method comprising the steps of:
- labeling human embryonic stem cells with a biocompatible label;
administering the labeled embryonic stem cells to the patient via intravenous injection; and
detecting the labeled embryonic stem cells to thereby identify the region of traumatic, hypoxic or other disease state in the patient where the labeled embryonic stem cells have accumulated.

Abstract
The present invention provides a method for the in vitro culture of embryonic stem cells, wherein the stem cells continue to express no antigen or antigen CD117, and mostly remain undifferentiated during culture. The present invention also relates to purified preparations of embryonic stem cells and for uses of embryonic stem cells in treating a wide variety of conditions, diseases and disorders.
