Method of delivering a bifurcated stent
First Claim
1. A method comprising:
- a) inserting a first balloon catheter having a tip through a first expandable tubular member having a proximal end forming a stem portion and a distal end forming a first leg portion and a longitudinal bore therethrough such that it extends through said stem portion and first leg portion, the first tubular member provided with a branch aperture disposed between the proximal end and the distal end;
b) inserting a second balloon catheter having a tip through said stem portion and extending out of said branch aperture such that its tip is longer than that of the first balloon catheter.

Abstract
A first balloon catheter having a tip extends through the stem portion and first leg portion of a first expandable tubular member and a second balloon catheter having a tip through said stem portion and extends out of a branch aperture such that its tip is longer than that of the first balloon catheter. The first, expandable tubular member, first balloon catheter and second balloon catheter are delivered to a bifurcated vessel having a first lumen and a second lumen with the tip of the second balloon catheter leading the rest of the elements so that the tip of said second balloon catheter can be aligned with and enter into the second lumen before the first expandable tubular member and the tip of said first balloon catheter reach the area of said second lumen and interfere with the second balloon catheter.

10. A method comprising:
-
a) delivering a first guide wire into the first lumen of a bifurcated vessel having a first lumen and a second lumen;
b) delivering a second guide wire into the second lumen of the bifurcated vessel;
c) mounting a first expandable tubular member having a proximal end forming a stem portion and a distal end forming a first leg portion and a longitudinal bore therethrough on a first balloon catheter having a tip, the first tubular member provided with a branch aperture disposed between the proximal end and the distal end, the branch aperture communicating with the longitudinal bore;
d) mounting the first expandable tubular member on a second balloon catheter having a tip, with the balloon catheter extending out of the branch aperture such that its tip is longer than the tip of the first balloon catheter;
e) mounting the first balloon catheter on the first guide wire and the second balloon catheter on the second guide wire;
f) delivering the first expandable tubular member to the first lumen of the bifurcated vessel with the tip of the second balloon catheter leading the rest of the elements and entering into the second lumen first followed by the first expandable member entering into the first lumen;
g) inflating the second balloon catheter; and
h) inflating the first balloon catheter to expand the first expandable member in an amount sufficient to secure the first expandable member in the first lumen. - View Dependent Claims (11, 12, 13, 14, 15)
