Abstract

A method to store information in an address book (122) is provided. The method includes the steps of creating a record for each call placed by a subscriber, each record including one or more telephone numbers (404), determining if the telephone number(s) of the record matches one of a plurality of telephone numbers stored within the address book (406); and storing the telephone number(s) in the address book (412). A system and computer program are also disclosed to store information in the address book.

Claims

1. A method for storing a called number comprising the steps of:

creating a record for each call placed by a subscriber, each record including at least one called number;

determining if the at least one called number of the record matches one of a plurality of numbers stored within an address book; and

storing the at least one called number in the address book.

2. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of adding the at least one called number to a list when the at least one called number does not match any of the plurality of numbers contained within the address book.

3. The method of claim 2 further comprising the steps of:

determining whether the at least one called number is included within the list; and

incrementing a counter if the at least one called number associated with the identified record is included within the list.

4. The method of claim 2 further comprising the steps of:

determining the number of entries included in the list;

comparing the number of entries with a predetermined number; and

deleting at least one of the entries if the number of entries exceeds the predetermined number.

5. The method of claim 2 further comprising the step of placing the at least one called number at the top of the list.

6. The method of claim 2 further comprising the step of adding the at least one called number from the list to the address book.

7. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of adding information associated with the at least one called number to the address book.

8. The method of claim 7 further comprising the step of deleting at least one of the entries contained in the list when the at least one called number has been added to the address book.

9. The method of claim 1 wherein at least one entry of the address book includes hyperlinks corresponding to surnames of persons entered in the address book;

and further including the step of referencing the address book via the hyperlinks.

10. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of accessing the address book via voice commands.

11. The method of claim 1 further comprising the step of accessing the address book using a device having a display.

12. A system for storing a dialed telephone number comprising:

computer readable program code to create a record for each call placed by a subscriber, each record including at least one called number;

computer readable program code to determine if called number matches one of a plurality of numbers contained within an address book; and

computer readable program code to store the at least one called number in the address book.

13. A program for storing a called number comprising:

computer readable program code to creates a record for each call placed by a subscriber, each record including at least one called number;

computer readable program code to determine code to determine if the at least one called number matches one of a plurality of numbers contained within an address book; and

computer readable program code to store the at least one called number in the address book.

14. A method for storing information in an address book comprising the steps of:

presenting a subscriber with at least one phone number dialed by a subscriber; and

storing the at least one phone number in the address book.
