1. A method for maintaining a database of information using a communication network, the information including identification information for a plurality of points of interests, said method comprising the steps of:
- establishing, communication between the database and a point-of-interest client, said communication being established through the communication network;
identifying the point-of-interest client, said point-of-interest client is identified by using one of a telephone number and a communication network address of the point-of-interest client; and
providing to the point-of-interest client a unique password for accessing the database and uploading into the database identification information of the point-of-interest client, said identification information including one of the telephone number and a physical location of the point-of-interest client, wherein the database information can be retrieved by the general public using the communication network.

Abstract
The present invention is directed to a system and method for collecting and maintaining an up-to-date database of points of interests, whereby agents of the points of interests, such as owners or operators of hotels or restaurants, can register their point of interest onto the database by uploading their contact information and physical address. Subsequently, on a periodic basis, the agents of the points of interests may log into the system and update their information, such as operating hours. The collected data is then made accessible to the general public and can be searched through using a variety of search criteria.
