1. A seal for inhibiting a flow of fluid through an annulus defined by a first component and a second component, the seal comprising:
- a sealing element disposed within the annulus and having at least one sealing profile in contact with a surface of the first component to inhibit a flow of fluid therebetween; and
means for retaining the sealing element on a surface of the second component that defines the annulus, wherein the sealing element is sealingly engaged with the second component such that a flow of the fluid is inhibited therebetween.
