Abstract

In a communication system using frequency hopping to transmit data packets, a transmission request from a transmitter is transmitted through a first control channel. The transmission request includes a frequency channel designation selecting one of plural data channels. A receiver that receives the transmission request sends a receive confirmation through a second control channel and the data packets are then transmitted through the data channels so that the data channel is changed each time a data packet is transmitted.

Claims

1. A transmission apparatus comprising:

selection means for selecting one of a plurality of data channels; and

transmission means for transmitting through a control channel selection data indicating the selected data channel and for transmitting a data packet through the selected data channel;

wherein said selection means selects the data channels so that a data packet is transmitted through a different data channel each time a data packet is transmitted.

2. A transmission apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising receiving means for receiving through a second control channel a confirmation of said transmitted selection data.

3. A transmission apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said selection means selects a data channel not used in the preceding transmission when a data packet is re-transmitted.

4. A transmission apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said selection means selects one of a plurality of data channels according to data channels used in past transmissions.

5. A data packet receiving method comprising the steps of:

receiving through a control channel first selection data for selecting one of a plurality of data channels;

receiving a data packet through the data channel selected by said first selection data; and

receiving second selection data for selecting a data channel different from that used for the preceding data-packet transmission before receiving the next data packet.

6. A transmission method in a communication system having a control channel and a plurality of data channels comprising the steps of:

selecting one of the plurality of data channels;

transmitting selection data indicating the selected data channel through the control channel; and

transmitting a data packet through the selected data channel,

wherein, in the data channel selection step, data channels are selected to transmit each data packet through a different data channel.

7. A data packet receiving apparatus comprising:

receiving means for receiving selection data to select one of a plurality of data channels through a control channel; and

means for receiving data packets through data channels selected by the received first selection data,

wherein a different data channel is selected for each data packet in response to the received selection data.
