Abstract

The invention relates to a method and system of producing stereoscopic images. The method comprises providing at least one stereoscopic image of a scene, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by first and second cameras. The method also comprises providing at least one a first photographing ratio (A1:B1:C1) corresponding to the first camera and a second photographing ratio (A2:B2:C2) corresponding to the second camera, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene imaged by each of the first and second cameras, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as the distances between object lenses of the cameras and the scene, respectively. The method comprises storing the stereoscopic image and the at least one photographing ratio on a computer readable medium.

Claims

1. A method of producing stereoscopic images, comprising:

providing at least one stereoscopic image of a scene, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by first and second cameras;

providing at least one of a first photographing ratio (A1;

B1;

C1) corresponding to the first camera and a second photographing ratio (A2;

B2;

C2) corresponding to the second camera, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene imaged by each of the first and second cameras, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as the distances between object lenses of the cameras and the scene, respectively; and

transmitting the stereoscopic image and the at least one photographing ratio.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting is performed via a communication network.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising combining the at least one stereoscopic image and the photographing ratios before transmission.

4. The method of claim 3, further comprising storing the combined data.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the stereoscopic image comprises at least one of a broadcasting image, a movie image, an advertisement image, and a product image for an Internet sale.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the first photographing ratio is substantially the same as the second photographing ratio.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein each of the photographing ratios is fixed.

8. A system for producing stereoscopic images, comprising:

a stereoscopic image providing portion configured to provide at least one stereoscopic image of a scene, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional images produced by first and second cameras, respectively;

a photographing ratio providing portion configured to provide a first photographing ratio (A1;

B1;

C1) of the first camera and a second photographing ratio (A2;

B2;

C2) of the second camera, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene imaged by each of the first and second cameras, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as distances between object lenses of the cameras and the scene, respectively; and

a transmitter configured to transmit the at least one stereoscopic image and the photographing ratios via a communication network.

9. The system of claim 8, further comprising a data combiner configured to combine the at least one stereoscopic image and the photographing ratios.

10. The system of claim 8, further comprising a memory configured to store the combined data.

11. The system of claim 8, wherein the network comprises at least one of an Internet, a cable network, a PSTN, and a wireless communication network.

12. A method of producing stereoscopic images, comprising:

providing at least one stereoscopic image of a scene, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by first and second cameras;

providing at least one a first photographing ratio (A1;

B1;

C1) corresponding to the first camera and a second photographing ratio (A2;

B2;

C2) corresponding to the second camera, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene imaged by each of the first and second cameras, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as the distances between object lenses of the cameras and the scene, respectively; and

storing the stereoscopic image and the at least one photographing ratio on a computer readable medium.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the medium comprises an optical disk or a magnetic disk.

14. The method of claim 13, wherein the optical disk comprises a CD or a DVD.

15. A method of providing stereoscopic images, comprising:

providing three-dimensional structural data corresponding to a scene;

producing at least one stereoscopic image from the structural data, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by first and second projection portions, respectively;

providing at least one of a first ratio (A1;

B1;

C1) corresponding to the first projection portion and a second ratio (A2;

B2;

C2) corresponding to the second projection portion, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene projected by each of the first and second projection portions, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as distances between each of the projection portions and the scene, respectively; and

transmitting the at least one stereoscopic image and the photographing ratios.

16. The method of claim 15, wherein the transmitting is performed via a communication network.

17. The method of claim 15, further comprising combining the at least one stereoscopic image and the ratios.

18. The method of claim 15, wherein the first ratio is substantially the same as the second ratio.

19. The method of claim 15, wherein the three-dimensional structural data comprise at least one of animation data and electronic game data.

20. A system for providing stereoscopic images, comprising:

a memory configured to store three-dimensional structural data;

first and second projection portions configured to produce at least one stereoscopic image of a scene from the structural data, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images projected by the first and second projection portions, respectively;

a photographing ratio providing portion configured to provide at least one of a first ratio (A1;

B1;

C1) corresponding to the first projection portion and a second ratio (A2;

B2;

C2) corresponding to the second projection portion, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene projected by each of the first and second projection portions, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as distances between each of the projection portions and the scene, respectively; and

a transmitter configured to transmit the at least one stereoscopic image and the at least one photographing ratio via a communication network.

21. The system of claim 20, wherein the network comprises at least one of an Internet, a cable network, a PSTN, and a wireless communication network.

22. The system of claim 20, further comprising a data combiner configured to combine the at least one stereoscopic image and the at least one photographing ratio.

23. A method of providing a three-dimensional image, comprising:

providing three-dimensional structural data;

producing at least one stereoscopic image of a scene from the structural data, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by first and second projection portions, respectively;

providing at least one of a first ratio (A1;

B1;

C1) corresponding to the first projection portion and a second ratio (A2;

B2;

C2) corresponding to the second projection portion, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene projected by each of the first and second projection portions, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as distances between each of the projection portions and the scene, respectively; and

storing the at least one stereoscopic image and the at least one photographing ratio on a computer readable medium.

24. The method of claim 23, wherein the medium comprises a CD or a DVD.

25. A system for producing stereoscopic images, comprising:

means for providing at least one stereoscopic image of a scene, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by first and second cameras;

means for providing at least one of a first photographing ratio (A1;

B1;

C1) corresponding to the first camera and a second photographing ratio (A2;

B2;

C2) corresponding to the second camera, respectively, wherein A1 and A2, and B1 and B2 are defined as horizontal and vertical lengths of the scene imaged by each of the first and second cameras, respectively, and C1 and C2 are defined as the distances between object lenses of the cameras and the scene, respectively; and

means for transmitting the stereoscopic image and the at least one photographing ratio.
