Abstract

The invention relates to a method and system of displaying stereoscopic images. The method comprises providing a pair of stereoscopic cameras and producing at least one stereoscopic image, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by the pair of stereoscopic cameras, respectively. The method also comprises detecting the motions of each of the stereoscopic cameras and transmitting the produced stereoscopic mage and detection data. The method also comprises receiving the stereoscopic mage and detection data, and displaying the received two-dimensional images on a set of display devices, respectively. The method comprises providing a guide signal indicative of the direction of motion of the stereoscopic cameras based on the detection data.

Claims

1. A method of displaying stereoscopic images, comprising:

providing a pair of stereoscopic cameras;

producing at least one stereoscopic image, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by the pair of stereoscopic cameras, respectively;

detecting the motions of each of the stereoscopic cameras;

transmitting the produced stereoscopic mage and detection data;

receiving the stereoscopic mage and detection data;

displaying the received two-dimensional images on a set of display devices, respectively; and

providing a guide signal indicative of the direction of motion of the stereoscopic cameras based on the detection data.

2. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing of the guide signal comprises displaying an on screen data signal that guides the viewer'"'"'s eyes to track the motion of the cameras in each of the display devices.

3. The method of claim 1, wherein the providing of the guide signal comprises providing a voice signal indicative of the motion of the cameras.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein the detecting of the motions is performed using a set of camera motion detection devices.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein the transmitting is performed via a communication network.

6. A system for displaying stereoscopic images, comprising:

a set of stereoscopic cameras configured to produce at least one stereoscopic image, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images;

a set of motion detection devices each detecting motions of the set of stereoscopic cameras, respectively;

a transmitter configured to transmit the produced image and detected motion data;

a receiver configured to receive the image and detected motion data; and

a set of display devices configured to display the two-dimensional plane images, respectively, and to provide a guide signal indicative of the direction of motion of each of the stereoscopic cameras.

7. The system of claim 6, wherein the display devices are configured to display an on screen data signal that guides the viewer'"'"'s eyes to track the motion of the cameras.

8. The system of claim 6, further comprising a speaker configured to provide a voice signal indicative of the direction of motion of the cameras.

9. The system of claim 6, wherein the transmitter is configured to transmit the image and motion data via a communication network.

10. A method of displaying stereoscopic images, comprising:

receiving at least one stereoscopic image and motion detection data of a set of stereoscopic cameras, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images;

displaying the pair of two-dimensional plane images on a set of display devices; and

providing a guide signal indicative of the direction of motion of the stereoscopic cameras based on the detection data.

11. The method of claim 10, wherein the providing of the guide signal comprises providing a voice signal indicative of the direction of motion of the cameras.

12. The method of claim 10, wherein the providing of the guide signal comprises displaying an on screen data (OSD) signal that guides the viewer'"'"'s eyes to track the motion of the cameras in each of the display devices.

13. The method of claim 12, wherein the OSD signal comprises an arrow indication signal showing the direction of motion of the cameras.

14. A method of displaying stereoscopic images, comprising:

producing at least one stereoscopic image from three-dimensional structural data, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images projected by a pair of projection portions, respectively;

detecting the motions of the pair of projection portions;

displaying the stereoscopic image; and

providing a guide signal with regard to the motion of each of the projection portions based on the detection data.

15. A system for displaying a three-dimensional image, comprising:

a receiver configured to receive at least one stereoscopic image and motion data of a set of stereoscopic cameras, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images produced by the set of stereoscopic cameras, respectively; and

a set of display device configured to display the pair of two-dimensional plane images, and to provide a guide signal indicative of the direction of motion of the stereoscopic cameras.

16. The system of claim 15, wherein the set of the display device comprises:

an image processor configured to process the received stereoscopic image;

an on screen data (OSD) circuit configured to generate an OSD signal indicative of the direction of motion of the stereoscopic cameras; and

a combiner configured to combine the processed image data and the generated OSD signal.

17. The system of claim 16, wherein the OSD circuit is configured to generate an arrow indication signal showing the direction of motion of at least one of the cameras.

18. The system of claim 15, further comprising a V shaped mirror located between the display devices, wherein each of the display devices is opposing each other and comprises a set of inverting portions configured to invert the left and right sides of the two-dimensional plane images so as to output inverted images, and wherein the V shaped mirror is configured to receive and reflect the inverted images to the viewer.

19. The system of claim 15, wherein the set of display device comprises a unitary display device adapted to sequentially the two-dimensional plane images.

20. The system of claim 15, wherein the set of display device comprises a pair of display devices configured to display simultaneously the two-dimensional plane images, respectively.

21. The system of claim 15, wherein the set of display device is selected from one of the following:

a head mount display and a set of projection display device, a set of LCD device, a set of CRT device, and a set of plasma display panel device.

22. A system for displaying stereoscopic images, comprising:

means for receiving at least one stereoscopic image and motion detection data of a set of stereoscopic cameras, the stereoscopic image comprising a pair of two-dimensional plane images;

means for displaying the pair of two-dimensional plane images on a set of display devices; and

means for providing a guide signal indicative of the direction of motion of the stereoscopic cameras based on the detection data.
