Abstract

The invention relates to the use of ester peroxy acids for improving surface perfusion during the disinfection of surfaces and to synergistic antimicrobial combinations of ester peroxy acids and additional constituents.

Claims

1. Use of formulations containing at least one peracid ester of general formula

R—

O₂C—

(CH₂)_x—

CO₃H

wherein R is an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and x is a number from 1 to 4,

for achieving better surface wetting when using formulations of this type than when using identical molar amounts of the corresponding peracids alone or combined with mole-equivalent amounts of the corresponding alcohol during the disinfecting and/or cleaning of surfaces.

2. The use claimed in claim 1, characterized in that there is a longer surface contact time on surfaces which are not arranged horizontally when using identical molar amounts of the corresponding peracids alone or combined with mole-equivalent amounts of the corresponding alcohol.

3. The use claimed in one of claims 1 or 2, characterized in that a better antimicrobial and/or additional cleaning effect is achieved when using identical molar amounts of the corresponding-peracids alone or combined with mole-equivalent amounts of the corresponding alcohol.

The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 3, characterized in that it is possible to achieve at least the same antimicrobial activity, with a lower concentration and/or reduced unpleasant odor, as when using identical molar amounts of the corresponding peracids alone or combined with mole-equivalent amounts of the corresponding alcohol.

5. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 4, characterized in that R is a methyl group.

6. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 5, characterized in that the formulations contain one or more peracid esters selected from persuccinic acid monomethyl ester, perglutaric acid monomethyl ester, peradipic acid monomethyl ester.

7. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 6, characterized in that the formulation contains 0.0001 to 15% by weight of one or more peracid esters, based on the total formulation.

8. The use claimed in claim 7, characterized in that the formulation contains 0.1 to 5% by weight of one or more peracid esters based on the total composition.

9. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 8, characterized in that the formulation additionally contains 1 to 50% by weight of hydrogen peroxide, based on the total formulation.

10. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 9, characterized in that the formulation additionally contains 0.1 to 25% by weight of at least one non-esterified peracid, based on the total formulation.

11. The use claimed in claim 10, characterized in that the non-sterified peracids present in the formulations are selected from peracetic acid, perpropionic acid, persuccinic acid, perglutaric acid, peradipic acid, ω

-phthalimidoperoxyhexanic acid, fatty peracids containing 8 to 18 carbon atoms per molecule or mixtures of the aforementioned peracids.

12. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 11, characterized in that the formulation additionally contains 5 to 50% by weight of at least one organic acid, based on the total formulation, which is not a peracid.

13. The use claimed in claim 12, characterized in that the organic acid contained in the formulation is selected from acetic acid, propionic acid, succinic acid, glutaric acid, adipic acid, Ω

-phthalimidoperoxyhexanic acid, fatty acids containing 8 to 18 carbons atoms per molecule or mixtures of these acids.

14. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 13, characterized in that the formulation additionally contains at least one hydrotrope.

15. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 14, characterized in that the formulation additionally contains at least one component with complexing properties for polyvalent metal ions.

16. The use claimed in one of claims 13 to 15, characterized in that, in the formulation, the peracid ester together with

a) at least one fatty acid and/or

b) at least one hydrotrope and/or

c) at least one surfactant foam carrier component

form an antimicrobial synergistically acting composition and/or a foam-forming combination for the cleaning and/or disinfecting of surfaces.

17. The use claimed in claim 16, characterized in that the surfactant foam carrier component is an amine oxide derivative which is stable to oxidizing agents.

18. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 17, characterized in that the formulations are in the form of an aqueous solution, gel, emulsion, paste, dispersion, powder, granulate, flakes, pearls, tablets, block-like shaped bodies or extrudate.

19. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 18, characterized in that the formulations are diluted with water if necessary prior to use for cleaning and/or disinfecting purposes.

20. The use claimed in claim 19, characterized in that the dilution factor is between 10 and 10000.

21. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 20, characterized in that the surface to be treated is treated by immersion and/or by aids which can be selected from paintbrushes, sponges, rollers, cloths, rags, brushes, wipers, rubber, mops, flat wipe covers or sprayers.

22. Use of formulations according to claims 1 to 21 as combined cleaning compositions and disinfectants.

23. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 22 for disinfecting reusable and disposable containers made of glass, cardboard and/or plastics material.

24. The use claimed in one of claims 1 to 23 in the course of the aseptic or low-germ decanting of microbiologically sensitive foods.

25. The use claimed in claim 24, characterized in that the packagings are treated with formulations according to claims 1 to 23 prior to decanting the microbiologically sensitive products.

26. The use claimed in claim 24, characterized in that the surfaces in the low-germ decanting region, including the food-carrying pipes, tanks, devices, machines, conveyor belts and equipment, rinsers and container production devices are treated with formulations according to claims 1 to 23.

27. Antimicrobial, synergistically acting composition for the cleaning and disinfecting of surfaces containing at least one peracid, ester of general formula

CO₃H

wherein R is an alkyl group containing 1 to 4 carbon atoms and x is a number from 1 to 4, combined with a component selected from

a) at least one fatty acid containing 8 to 18 carbon atoms and/or

b) at least one hydrotrope and/or

c) at least one surfactant foam carrier component.

28. Antimicrobial synergistically acting composition according to claim 27, characterized in that the fatty acid a) contains 8 to 12 carbon atoms in the molecule.

29. Composition according to one of claims 27 to 28, characterized in that the surfactant foam carrier component c) is an amine oxide derivative which is stable to oxidizing agents.

30. Composition according to one of claims 27 to 29, characterized in that, based on the total formulation, it contains 0.0001 to 15% by weight of a peracid ester and

a) 0.01 to 15% by weight of at least one fatty acid containing 8 to 18 carbon atoms and/or

b) 0.01 to 25% by weight of at least one hydrotrope and/or

c) 0.01 to 15% by weight of at least one surfactant foam carrier component.
