1. A regimen for erythropoietin treatment comprising:
- a) dosing a patient by subcutaneous injection once every week with a therapeutically effective amount of erythropoietin until a hemoglobin increase of about 2 g/dL is achieved; and
b) dosing said patient by subcutaneous injection once every two weeks with an amount of erythropoietin that is greater than the amount dosed in step (a).

Abstract
The present invention provides a new subcutaneous injection dosing regimen for erythropoietin to treat anemia. The new erythropoietin treatment regimen of the present invention results in improved hemoglobin levels with less frequent dosing.
