1. A card comprising:
- a front layer;
a back layer;
an infrared blocking layer positioned between said front and back layers forming a card body adapted to partially transmit incident radiation in a visible light wavelength region;
said card body having a first pocket extending through said front layer and said infrared blocking layer, said first pocket adapted to accept a first integrated circuit chip; and
said card body also having a second pocket extending through said back layer and said infrared blocking layer, said second pocket adapted to accept a second integrated circuit chip;
said infrared blocking layer comprising a machine recognizable compound containing infrared film or ink over said infrared blocking layer;
whereby said card body is opaque to infrared radiation and translucent to visible light radiation.

Abstract
The present invention relates to a process for producing an opaque, transparent or translucent transaction card having multiple features, such as a holographic foil, integrated circuit chip, silver magnetic stripe with text on the magnetic stripe, opacity gradient, an invisible optically recognizable compound, a translucent signature field such that the signature on back of the card is visible from the front of the card and an active thru date on the front of the card. The invisible optically recognizable compound is an infrared ink and/or film, which can be detected by a sensor found in an ATM or card assembly line.
