Abstract

An occupant restraining device (S1) is provided with: a shielding member (41) to be let off from the peripheral edge (DW/VW) of a vehicle window (WF) arranged in a door of a vehicle, so as to shield the window; and a let-off means (81, 86, 87) for letting off the housed shielding member (41) so as to shield the window (WF). The shielding member (41) and the let-off means (81, 86, 87) are arranged in the door (FD). A garnish (21) is arranged on the peripheral edge of the door (FD) for covering the housed shielding member (41) so that the shielding member (41) is let off. An airbag device (ABM) can be arranged in the vehicle without any problem even if the occupant restraining device (S1) is mounted together with the airbag device (ABM) on the vehicle.

Claims

1. An occupant restraining device comprising:

a shielding member adapted to be let off from the peripheral edge of a window of a vehicle so as to shield said window; and

a let-off means for letting off said housed shielding member, so as to shield said window,

wherein said window is arranged in a door of the vehicle,

wherein said shielding member and said let-off means are arranged in said door, and

wherein said door includes a garnish mounted on the frame of said door and arranged on the peripheral edge of said window to cover said housed shielding member and allow said housed shielding member to be let off.

2. An occupant restraining device according to claim 1,

wherein said garnish and said shielding member are integrally assembled in advance to form a shielding member unit, and

wherein said shielding member unit is mounted on said door frame so that said garnish and said shielding member are arranged on said door.

3. An occupant restraining device according to claim 1,

wherein said shielding member is housed between the portion on the inner peripheral edge side of said window in said garnish and said door frame.

4. An occupant restraining device according to claim 3,

wherein said garnish includes a door portion covering said housed shielding member and adapted to be pushed and opened by said shielding member being let off.

5. An occupant restraining device according to claim 4,

wherein said door portion is opened while breaking the peripheral edge when said shielding member is let off.

6. An occupant restraining device according to claim 4,

wherein said garnish includes the vicinity of said door portion and a general portion apart from said door portion'"'"'s vicinity, and

wherein said garnish is a two-color molded part in which said door and the vicinity thereof in said garnish are made of a thermoplastic elastomer, and said general portion in said garnish is made of a synthetic resin having a compatibility with said thermoplastic elastomer and harder than said thermoplastic elastomer.

7. An occupant restraining device according to claim 1,

wherein said garnish, said shielding member and said let-off means are integrally assembled in advance to form an occupant restraining unit, and

wherein said occupant restraining unit is mounted on said door frame so that said shielding member, said garnish and said let-off means are arranged in said door.

8. An occupant restraining device according to claim 7,

wherein said garnish includes:

a door portion covering said housed shielding member and adapted to be pushed and open by said shielding member when said shielding member is let off;

a cover portion which covers the moving track of the vicinity of the connection portion between said let-off means and said shielding member at the letting-off time, and opens when said shielding member is let-off; and

a general portion except the vicinity of said door portion and said cover portion, and

wherein said garnish is a two-color molded part in which the vicinity of said door and said cover portion in said garnish is made of a thermoplastic elastomer, and said general portion in said garnish is made of a synthetic resin having a compatibility with said thermoplastic elastomer and harder than said thermoplastic elastomer.

21. An occupant restraining device according to claim 1,

wherein said shielding member is let off when a rollover of a vehicle is detected.

9. An occupant restraining device comprising:

a shielding member adapted to be so let off from the peripheral edge of a window of a vehicle as to shield said window; and

a let-off means for letting off said shielding member housed so as to shield said window,

wherein said window is arranged in the body of the vehicle, and

wherein said shielding member is housed between the garnish of the peripheral edge of said window and said body.

10. An occupant restraining device according to claim 9,

wherein said garnish includes a door portion covering said housed shielding member and adapted to be pushed and opened by said shielding member being let off.

11. An occupant restraining device according to claim 10,

wherein said door portion is opened while breaking the peripheral edge when said shielding member is let off.

12. An occupant restraining device according to claim 10,

wherein said garnish includes the vicinity of said door portion and a general portion apart from said door portion'"'"'s vicinity;

and

wherein said garnish is a two-color molded part in which said door portion and the vicinity thereof in said garnish are made of a thermoplastic elastomer, and said general portion in said garnish is made of a synthetic resin having a compatibility with said thermoplastic elastomer and harder than said thermoplastic elastomer.

13. An occupant restraining device comprising:

a shielding member adapted to be so let off from the peripheral edge of a window of a vehicle as to shield the inner side of said window; and

a let-off means for letting off said shielding member housed, so as to shield said window,

wherein said shielding member is housed in a vertical edge portion extending generally vertically on the front side or the rear side of said window peripheral edge,

wherein said let-off means of said shielding member is arranged in the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge while being connected to said shielding member housed, and is constructed to move the connection portion to said shielding member, at the action time, along the lower edge side of said window peripheral edge, and

wherein, at the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge, there are arranged;

a moving passage allowing the movement of the vicinity of the connection portion between said let-off means and said shielding member; and

a closing portion openable over said moving passage.

14. An occupant restraining device according to claim 13,

wherein said shielding member housed is arranged at the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge while being extended from said vertical edge portion.

15. An occupant restraining device according to claim 13,

wherein a garnish is so arranged at said vertical edge portion of said window peripheral edge as to cover said shielding member housed, and

wherein said garnish includes a door portion covering said housed shielding member and adapted to be pushed and opened by said shielding member being let off.

16. An occupant restraining device according to claim 15,

wherein said door portion is opened while breaking the peripheral edge when said shielding member is let off.

17. An occupant restraining device according to claim 13,

wherein said closing portion is constructed of a removable cap arranged at the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge, and

wherein, at the action time of said let-off means, said cap is pushed out of the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge, by a member in the vicinity of said connection portion moving, to form an opening.

18. An occupant restraining device according to claim 13,

wherein said closing portion is constructed of an openable door arranged at the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge, and

wherein, at the action time of said let-off means, said door portion is pushed and opened by a member in the vicinity of said connection portion moving, to form an opening.

19. An occupant restraining device according to claim 13,

wherein said closing portion is constructed of a portion to be broken arranged at the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge, and

wherein, at the action time of said let-off means, said portion to be broken is pushed and broken by a member in the vicinity of said connection portion moving, to form an opening.

20. An occupant restraining device according to claim 13,

wherein a surface skin is arranged on the surface of the lower edge portion of said window peripheral edge;

wherein said surface skin is constructed to include a body and a cover-shaped surface skin to be peeled from said body;

wherein said closing portion is constructed of said cover-shaped surface skin to be peeled from the surrounding body, and

wherein, at the action time of said let-off means, said cover-shaped surface skin is pushed by a member near said connection portion moving and is peeled from said body, to form an opening.
