Abstract

When an operator enters a partial address into a browser, the browser displays at least one full address, where the displayed address may be an address that has not been previously entered into the browser or accessed by the browser.

Claims

1. A method for generating a list of addresses, comprising:

reading, by a server, a list of directories, for documents on servers on a local network;

searching, by the server, for a document, on a network file system, in a directory from the list of directories;

reading, by the server, from the directory, the file address of a particular document;

writing, by the server, in a list of document addresses, a full universal resource locator for the particular document.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising:

sending, by the server, the list of document addresses, to a client, in response to a request from the client.

3. A server, comprising:

a processor;

a memory medium, readable by the processor, containing a program to instruct the processor to perform the following method;

reading a list of directories, for documents on servers on a local network;

searching for a document, on a network file system, in a directory from the list of directories;

reading from the directory, the file address of a particular document;

writing in a list of document addresses, a full universal resource locator for the particular document.

4. A computer readable medium, containing a program to perform the following steps:

reading, by a server, a list of directories, for documents on servers on a local network;

searching, by the server, for a document, on a network file system, in a directory from the list of directories;

reading, by the server, from the directory, the file address of a particular document;

writing, by the server, in a list of document addresses, a full universal resource locator for the particular document.

5. A server, comprising:

means for reading a list of directories, for documents on servers on a local network;

means for searching for a document, on a network file system, in a directory from the list of directories;

means for reading, from the directory, the file address of a particular document;

means for writing, in a list of document addresses, a full universal resource locator for the particular document.
