Abstract
This invention is a personal alert and rescue system for a golf course. It includes a communication link between a golfer and a clubhouse. The system includes an audio interlock feature that prevents unauthorized communications. At least two special function buttons are provided on a mobile transceiver unit. One special function button corresponds to a medical emergency; and the other corresponds to a mechanical emergency. A method for conducting emergency communications is also disclosed.

actuating a special function button to transmit a signal to a distant location, said signal being indicative of a nature of the emergency;
transmitting a signal from said distant location that disables an audio interlock; and
