Abstract

A system, method, and processor readable medium for processing data in a knowledge management system gathers information content and transmits a work request for the information content gathered. The information content may be registered with a K-map and assigned a unique document identifier. A work queue processes the work requests. The processed information may then be transmitted to another work queue for further processing. Further processing may include categorization, full-text indexing, metrics extraction or other process. Control messages may be transmitted to one or more users providing a status of the work request. The information may be analyzed and further indexed. A progress statistics report may be generated for each of the processes performed on the document. The progress statistics may be provided in a record. A shared access to a central data structure representing the metrics history and taxonomy may be provided for all work queues via a CORBA service.

Claims

1. A system for knowledge mapping comprising:

a gathering module that gathers information from one or more user selectable data repositories;

an affinity module that determines an affinity between the gathered information and one or more users of the system; and

a map creation module that creates a map between the gathered information and at least a portion of the one or more users having affinities to the gathered information.

2. A system of claim 1, wherein the user selectable data repositories are web-based data repositories.

3. A system of claim 2, wherein at least one of the web-based data repositories is an on-line bulletin board.

4. A system of claim 1, wherein the user selectable data repositories are non-web based data repositories.

5. A system of claim 4, wherein at least one of the non-web based data repositories is Lotus Notes database.

6. A system of claim 1, wherein the affinity module periodically determines the affinity between the gathered information and the one or more users of the system.

7. A method for knowledge mapping comprising:

gathering information from one or more user selectable data repositories;

determining an affinity between the gathered information and one or more users of the system; and

creating a map between the gathered information and at least a portion of the one or more users having the affinity to the gathered information.

8. A method of claim 7, wherein the user selectable data repositories are web-based data repositories.

9. A method of claim 8, wherein at least one of the web-based data repositories is an on-line bulletin board.

10. A method of claim 7, wherein the user selectable data repositories are non-web based data repositories.

11. A method of claim 10, wherein at least one of the non-web based data repositories is Lotus Notes database.

12. A method of claim 11, wherein the affinity module periodically determines the affinity between the gathered information and the one or more users of the system.

13. A system for knowledge mapping comprising:

gathering means that gather information from one or more user selectable data repositories;

affinity means that determine an affinity between the gathered information and one or more users of the system; and

map creation means that create a map between the gathered information and at least a portion of the one or more users having the affinity to the gathered information.

14. A system of claim 13, wherein the user selectable data repositories are web-based data repositories.

15. A system of claim 14, wherein at least one of the web-based data repositories is an on-line bulletin board.

16. A system of claim 13, wherein the user selectable data repositories are non-web based data repositories.

17. A system of claim 16, wherein at least one of the non-web based data repositories is Lotus Notes database.

18. A system of claim 17, wherein the affinity module periodically determines the affinity between the gathered information and the one or more users of the system.
