A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl and the partially hydrogenated terphenyl has a solubility of not less than 0.5 wt % in the electrolyte solution at room temperature.

Abstract
The object of the present invention is to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte solution for secondary batteries, capable of securing safety of the battery in an overcharged state without affecting adversely to battery characteristics such as a low-temperature characteristics and storing characteristics.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl and the partially hydrogenated terphenyl has a solubility of not less than 0.5 wt % in the electrolyte solution at room temperature.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an elecctrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated m-terphenyl.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl, and a content of diphenylcylohexane in the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is from 10 to 65 wt %.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl, and a content of cyclohexylbiphenyl in the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is from 3 to 35 wt %.
