Abstract

The object of the present invention is to provide a non-aqueous electrolyte solution for secondary batteries, capable of securing safety of the battery in an overcharged state without affecting adversely to battery characteristics such as a low-temperature characteristics and storing characteristics.

The present invention relates to a non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl and the partially hydrogenated terphenyl has a solubility of not less than 0.5 wt % in the electrolyte solution at room temperature.

Claims

1. A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl and the partially hydrogenated terphenyl has a solubility of not less than 0.5 wt % in the electrolyte solution at room temperature.

2. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to claim 1, wherein a content of terphenyl in the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is not less than 6 wt %.

3. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to claim 1 or 2, wherein a content of diphenylcyclohexane in the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is from 10 to 65 wt %.

4. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to any one of claims 1 to 3, wherein a content of cyclohexylbiphenyl in the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is from 3 to 35 wt %.

5. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to any one of claims 1 to 4, wherein the terphenyl is m-terphenyl.

11. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to any one of claims 1 to 10, wherein the partial hydrogenation ratio of the partially hydrogenated terphenyl ranges from 30 to 70%.

12. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to any one of claims 1 to 11, wherein a content of the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is from 0.01 to 10 wt % based on the total weight of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution.

The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to any one of claims 1 to 14, wherein the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains a cyclic carbonic acid ester represented by General Formula (I) at a content ranging from 0.1 to 10 wt % based on the total weight of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution:

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode capable of storing and releasing lithium, and a non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, which is characterized by using the non-aqueous electrolyte solution set forth in claims 1 to 15.

17. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution secondary battery according to claim 16, wherein the positive electrode contains a lithium/cobalt composite oxide or a lithium/nickel composite oxide.

18. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution secondary battery according to claim 16 or 17, wherein the negative electrode contains a carbonaceous material having d-value of lattice plane (002 plane) ranging from 0.335 to 0.340 nm by X-ray diffraction.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an elecctrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated m-terphenyl.

7. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to claim 6, wherein a content of m-terphenyl in the partially hydrogenated m-terphenyl is not more than 6 wt %.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl, and a content of diphenylcylohexane in the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is from 10 to 65 wt %.

10. The non-aqueous electrolyte solution according to claim 8 or 9, wherein the terphenyl is m-terphenyl.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains partially hydrogenated terphenyl, and a content of cyclohexylbiphenyl in the partially hydrogenated terphenyl is from 3 to 35 wt %.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains diphenylcyclohexane at a content ranging from 0.01 to 6.5 wt % based on the total weight of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution.

A non-aqueous electrolyte solution containing an organic solvent, and a lithium salt as an electrolyte, useful for a secondary battery equipped with a negative electrode and a positive electrode both capable of storing and releasing lithium, which is characterized in that the non-aqueous electrolyte solution contains cyclohexylbiphenyl at a content ranging from 0.003 to 3.5 wt % based on the total weight of the non-aqueous electrolyte solution.
