Abstract

The invention provides a receiving apparatus which acquires a vendor name or a model of a source node from a configuration ROM of the source node, and superimposes character data indicating the vendor name if the vendor name can be acquired or character data indicating the model name if the model name can be acquired, on the moving image data. Such receiving apparatus facilitates to specify the source node of the moving image data received from a network.

Claims

1. A receiving apparatus comprising:

reception means which receives moving image data transmitted from a source node;

acquisition means which acquires a vendor name of said source node from said source mode;

character generation means which generates character data indicating the vendor name of said source node; and

synthesis means which superimposes said character data on said moving image data.

2. A receiving apparatus according to claim 1, further comprising output means which outputs said moving image data, on which said character data are superimposed, to an external.

3. A receiving apparatus according to claim 1 or 2, further comprising display means which displays said moving image data, on which said character data are superimposed.

4. A receiving apparatus according to any of claim 1, wherein said acquisition means is means which acquires the vendor name of said source node from a configuration ROM of said source node.

5. A receiving apparatus according to claim 1, wherein, if the vendor name of said source node cannot be acquired from said source node, said character generation means generates default character data.

6. A receiving apparatus according to claim 1, wherein said synthesis means controls a process of synthesizing said character data with said moving image data, according to the process of receiving said moving image data.

A receiving apparatus according to claim 6, wherein said synthesis means synthesizes said character data with said moving image data if said reception means receives said moving image data, and said synthesis means does not synthesize said character data with said moving image data if said reception means does not receive said moving image data.

8. A receiving apparatus comprising:

reception means which receives moving image data transmitted from a source node;

acquisition means which acquires a model name of said source node from said source mode;

character generation means which generates character data indicating the model name of said source node; and

synthesis means which superimposes said character data on said moving image data.

9. A receiving apparatus according to claim 8, further comprising output means which outputs said moving image data, on which said character data are superimposed, to an external.

10. A receiving apparatus according to claim 8 or 9, further comprising display means which displays said moving image data, on which said character data are superimposed.

11. A receiving apparatus according to any of claim 8, wherein said acquisition means is means which acquires the model name of said source node from a configuration ROM of said source node.

12. A receiving apparatus according to claim 8, wherein, if the model name of said source node cannot be acquired from said source node, said character generation means generates default character data.

13. A receiving apparatus according to claim 8, wherein said synthesis means controls a process of synthesizing said character data with said moving image data, according to the process of receiving said moving image data.

14. A receiving apparatus according to claim 13, wherein said synthesis means synthesizes said character data with said moving image data if said reception means receives said moving image data, and said synthesis means does not synthesize said character data with said moving image data if said reception means does not receive said moving image data.
