1. A system comprising:
- a first physical Wireless Ethernet interface configured to operate in a first mode, wherein said first mode enables said first physical interface in sending and receiving Wireless Ethernet data frames;
a second physical Wireless Ethernet interface configured to operate in a second mode, wherein said second mode enables said second physical interface in generating and sending Wireless Ethernet management frames as well as Wireless Ethernet data frames; and
a virtual interface manager, said manager coupled to said first physical interface and to said second physical interface, said manager configured to provide a plurality of virtual interfaces spawning from said first physical interface, said second physical interface capable thereby of transacting with said virtual interfaces in a manner similar to that of said first physical interface.

Abstract
Disclosed is a system which provides virtual Ethernet and virtual Wireless Ethernet (e.g. 802.11b) interfaces for client using a single host device. Providing virtual Ethernet interfaces for a client requires one physical Ethernet card/interface. Providing virtual Wireless Ethernet interfaces for a client requires two physical wireless Ethernet cards/interfaces. Applications can use these virtual interfaces as if they are real interfaces using socket interfaces.
