Abstract
A system and method for correcting vision in the eye, including an imaging device adapted to form images of a portion of the eye and transmit the images to a remote location. A display device is in communication with the imaging device and is adapted to display the images of the portion of the eye at the remote location. A laser is adapted to be positioned relative to the eye and coagulate the portion of the eye displayed on the display device. A control device is at the remote location and is adapted to control the position of the laser.

17. A method for remote correction of vision in the eye, comprising the steps of
forming an image of the retina of the eye; -
aiming a laser at the retina of the eye;
transmitting the image of the retina to a remote location;
displaying the image of the retina at the remote location;
transmitting information from the remote location to the laser to move the laser relative to the eye; and

23. A system for correcting vision in the eye, comprising
an imaging device adapted to take images of a portion of the eye; -
a laser adapted to be positioned relative to the eye and be fired at said portion of the eye;
a first transmitting device coupled to said imaging device and said laser, said first transmitting device adapted to transmit said images of said portion and the position of said laser to a remote location;
a first receiving device at said remote location and adapted to receive information transmitted by said first transmitting device;
a first monitor at said remote location and coupled to said first receiving device for displaying the images of said portion; and
a first control device at said remote location and adapted to control said position of said laser;
a second transmitting device at said remote location coupled to said control device and adapted to transmit control signals from said first control device; and
