Abstract

A service element is defined and represented by a data structure. It includes one or more components and/or one or more other service elements. A service element providing a complete function is a service offering. Management of service elements and/or service offerings is facilitated by a Service Development Tool. In different aspects, the management includes various tasks associated with creating, modifying and deleting service elements, establishing relationships, error checking and optimization. In a further aspect, service elements are packaged and distributed to enable customers to deliver the service elements. Additionally, the hosting of software packages is facilitated.

Claims

1. A method of facilitating hosting of software packages, said method comprising:

gathering information associated with hosting a software package to determine feasibility of hosting the software package; and

determining zero or more enablement steps to be performed, prior to development of one or more service elements for the hosting of the software package, in response to the gathering.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising providing the information to a service development tool to construct the one or more service elements.

3. The method of claim 2, further comprising constructing the one or more service elements.

4. The method of claim 1, wherein at least one service element of the one or more service elements corresponds to at least one enablement step, in response to the determining indicating at least one enablement step.

5. The method of claim 1, wherein said information comprises at least one partial service element.

6. The method of claim 1, wherein the software package comprises an application.

7. The method of claim 1, wherein the software package comprises middleware.
