- a phase locked loop (PLL) controller which receives at least one voltage of the power grid and determines a frequency and a phase angle of the at least one voltage of the power grid; and
a microprocessor-based controller which receives as input the frequency and the phase angle of the at least one voltage of the power grid and determines a phase angle of at least one output voltage of the AC power source.

14. A method for synchronizing a polyphase power grid with a polyphase AC power source (APS), comprising:

receiving a phase voltage of the polyphase power grid;
performing a phase-locked-loop (PLL) operation to derive and lock on to a phase angle of the power grid phase voltage;
