1. A learning system comprising:
- at least one printed entity comprising lesson information in an ordered series of one or more of sentences, phrases, pictures, or alphanumeric representations;
a digital data tape cassette having recorded thereon data for digital audio files comprising one or both of vocal renditions of individual ones of the sentences or phrases, vocal renditions related to entities in the pictures, or information files; and
a player for rendering the audio files audible, the player having a reader for receiving data from the digital tape cassette and storing the data in an internal random-access memory (RAM), and having a user interface for selecting and initiating playing of individual ones of the files, individually or in a pre-determined order from the RAM;
characterized in that individual ones of the pictures, sentences, phrases, or alphanumeric representations in the printed entity are annotated by visible indicia, and the user interface of the digital player enables the user to select files to play by selecting from a display individual ones of the visible indicia associated with individual ones of the audio files.

11. A method for instruction, comprising the steps of:

(a) preparing at least one printed entity comprising lesson information in an ordered series of one or more of sentences, phrases, pictures, or alphanumeric representations;
(b) recording separately addressable audio files comprising one or both of vocal renditions of individual ones of the sentences or phrases, vocal renditions related to entities in the pictures, or information files;
(c) recording the separately addressable audio files on a digital tape cassette;
(d) reading data from the digital tape cassette by a tape reader in a digital player and loading the data in a random access memory (RAM) in the player; and
(e) selecting and playing individual ones of the audio files from the internal RAM, rendering the audio files audible, the digital player having a user interface for selecting and initiating playing of individual ones of the files, individually or in a pre-determined order, such that a user may view the printed sentences, phrases, pictures or alphanumeric representations, and at the same time select and play associated audio files. - View Dependent Claims (12, 13, 14, 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22)

an internal random access memory (RAM);
a system for selecting a reading audio files from the RAM, and for rendering the files audible;

an input interface for displaying individual ones of the visible indicia, for selecting one among the indicia, and for initiating audible rendition of a file associated with the selected indicia;
