Abstract

A method of transmitting information over a wireless network and representing the information by using a mobile transceiver station as well as a data carrier are described, wherein information is offered and transmitted in a scalable form for the requirements of a mobile transceiver station. A scaling of the information is selected, depending on the arrangement for representation of information of the mobile transceiver station, inputs by the user being taken into account. WAP is used for transmission of the information data. A mobile transceiver station signals which scalings are to be transmitted. Advertising in various scalings is used for billing for services used.

Claims

1. A method of transmitting information over a wireless network and representing the information by using a mobile transceiver station (3), the information being transmitted over the wireless network to the mobile transceiver station (3), the information being represented in multimedia form by the mobile transceiver station (3), wherein the information is generated in different scalings;

the information is transmitted in a form adapted to the wireless network; and

the information is represented in a multimedia form and is scaled as a function of means for representing information in the mobile transceiver station (3), the different scalings of the information being assigned a mark, and a corresponding mark and thus the suitable scaling being selected in accordance with the means for representing information.

3. The method according to claim 1 or 2, wherein the Wireless Application Protocol (WAP) is used for transmission of information.

4. The method according to claim 3, wherein the information is reformatted by WAP for transmission over the wireless network.

5. The method according to one of the preceding claims, wherein at the beginning of the transmission of the information, a signal is sent indicating which scaling of the information is to be transmitted

6. The method according to one of the preceding claims, wherein advertising is used as part of the information to be represented for billing for data received by the mobile transceiver station (3).

7. The method according to claim 6, wherein the billing is created as a function of the scaling selected.

2. The method according to claim , wherein the means for representing information determine the multimedia representation of the information according to inputs by the user.

8. A data carrier, the data carrier having information as data, wherein the data of the information is in a scalable form and a mark is stored for each scaling of the information so that the scaling of the information may be called up on the basis of the respective marks.
