Abstract

A project management and activity recording system defines project tasks, project positions, and assigns personnel to the project positions. As the assigned personnel perform project tasks from a remote location, they may periodically record their activities in the project software. The recorded activity information is used to update the project to keep records such as time, cost, expenses, and task completion current, even when offsite personnel or contractors are used. A reporting user interface may be selected based on the reporting device, and data entry may be performed by updating historical or default values.

Claims

1. A method of project activity reporting comprising:

determining one or more project positions and/or project tasks for activity reporting;

selecting information to be reported;

receiving activity reports on the selected information from a remote location; and

updating the project with the selected information.

2. The method of claim 1, further comprising determining a schedule for activity reporting.

3. The method of claim 1, further comprising selecting a user interface based on a reporting device.

4. The method of claim 1, further comprising displaying historical data for the information to be reported.

5. The method of claim 4, further comprising generating activity reports by modifying the historical data.

6. The method of claim 1, further comprising generating activity reports by modifying default data.

7. An article comprising:

a storage medium having stored thereon instructions that when executed by a machine results in the following;

determines one or more project positions and/or project tasks for activity reporting;

selects information to be reported;

receives activity reports on the selected information from a remote location; and

updates the project with the selected information.

8. The article of claim 7, wherein a schedule is created for activity reporting.

9. The article of claim 7, wherein a reporting user interface is selected based on a reporting device.

10. The article of claim 7, wherein historical data is displayed for the information to be reported.

11. The article of claim 10, wherein activity reports are generated by modifying the historical data.

12. The article of claim 7, wherein activity reports are generated by modifying default data.
