Point to multi-point services using shared channels in wireless communication systems
First Claim
1. A method for transferring service data in a wireless communication system, the method comprising:
- simultaneously transmitting a service transmission indicator for reception by a group of users of a cell in the system, the group of users not including all of the users of the cell;
receiving by each of the group of users the service transmission indicator;
monitoring by each of the group of users for a service identification being transmitted over a downlink shared channel;
transmitting over the downlink shared channel the service data with the service identification; and
each of the group of users detecting the service identification and receiving the service data of the downlink shared channel.

Abstract
Service data is transferred in a wireless communication system. A first service identification is synchronously transmitted for reception by a group of users of a cell in the system. The group of users does not include all of the users of the cell. Each of the group of users receives the service identification. Each of the group of users monitors for a second service identification being transmitted over a downlink shared channel. The service data is transmitted over the downlink shared channel with the second service identification. Each of the group of users detects the second service identification and receives the service data of the downlink shared channel.

12. A radio network controller comprising:
-
an input configured to receive data for point to point (PtP) and point to multi-point (PtM) services;
a scheduling mechanism for receiving the received data and scheduling the data for transmission as PtP and PtM transmissions on a transmission time interval (TTI) basis, the schedule for each TTI based on a quality of service requirement for the PtP and PtM data and power requirements of a cell associated with the PtP and PtM transmissions; and
a signaling device for signaling the data schedule to users. - View Dependent Claims (13, 14, 15)
